Hi guys, I've picked up a few cards from other parts of the world over the years, and I've never really been too certain on how Warranty claims are handled. I'm also aware that local distro's won't have anything to do with RMAs for obvious reasons.

A GPU that I own came with a warranty that suggested warranty is only valid if the card was registered within 30 days of purchase. The card also originated in the UK. Would Asus International still be willing to look into this sort of query via tech support or is this kinda a lost situation.

Just seems a bit weird that vendors can brush aside warranty liability so easily.

Card is under warranty regardless of registration.
You would however have to send it back to the reseller, most likely at your cost.

I'm not sure where the original buyer acquired it from. The card has changed hands twice. I know of the original buyer, but not on a personal level. Sending the card back in a worst case scenario wouldn't be easy, but I could definitely get it back to the UK for fairly cheap. It would be much easier if I could go through Asus though.

Not too sure if Asus would help you directly sadly.
Perhaps one of the VIP resellers will be able to give input on that.

From what I remember warranties always had to go through the original purchase point and either gets replaced there (if in a certain period) or gets sent to Manufacturer (Asus in this case) for RMA claims after their very basic inspection.

That's kinda interesting. The main reason I thought one could bypass is because people from overseas often reference RMAing directly through the vendor.

They operate independently of each other, so it'd need to go back to the country of origin. It doesn't need to specifically go back to the vendor, but would have to go to Asus UK

I don't think they do it with components, but most have upgrades to warranty that says international instead of local, and can be returned anywhere

At least this is my understanding/experience

I know Asus laptops are covered under international warranty. Maybe GPU are too, best would be to ask Asus SA directly.
