Intel Alder Lake might have issues with older games with DRM

My only question is why not launch DDR5 on server for the first year or two, then move to HEDT, and then finally onto mainstream consumer stuff?

Historically peak speed for server ram is lower than peak speed for consumer ram, due to the extra controllers and hardware checks like ecc. Currently it's cheaper/efficient to scale horizontally with more [slower] servers than it is to scale vertically with faster servers, so outside of custom built super computers the server market tends to shy away from bleeding edge technology. Stability and maturity is preferred over raw improved performance.

Core count and memory availability trumps clock speeds and max throughput. Server environments are all about efficiency and stability.

The original comment was about early adoption of ram technology, not processor core count or memory availability/capacity. Or would you like to also mention something that has no relevance to the original comment like psu redundancy?

Stability vs early adoption is basically an oxymoron in the server environment. Do we need to draw a picture for you to understand properly?

To basically paraphrase what just happened,

In contrast, however, I’ll be testing 10 well-balanced games in a total of four resolutions from Ultra HD (“2160p”) all the way down to 720p in great detail, because the ultimate goal is to satisfy both parts of the readership, even those who can’t do anything with 720p to begin with. The fact that there weren’t 11 games (as planned) is due to the annoying problem of the DRM mechanisms, which have their problems with the new CPU. Intel will have to improve this as quickly as possible (which they are currently doing frantically). Denuvo once again turns out to be a plague that can’t cope with the separation into E- and P-Cores.

According to that one Chinese leaker, you should disable the E-cores for OCing and gaming anyway to allow for more thermal headroom and more cache for the P-cores anyway. Wouldn't that alleviate that Denuvo issue?

Maybe, but another leaker says you want the E-cores for better gaming performance.

I'm considering grabbing an i7-12700K along with the Z690 Elite/Tomahawk (whichever is better value), but I'm kinda worried that it will be difficult to learn how to manage the platform's quirks.
