Hi All!

I hope that you're all have a fantastic day!

I am going to be immigrating at the end of the year and am toying with the idea of moving with my PC. But I am uncertain of what the logistics look like for such a process. Does the pc or can the pc come on board as hand luggage or is there a company that specializes in not breaking fragile equipment when on a plane? haha.

Would it be worth selling my rig and just buying a new one when I get over?

I spent roughly 25k about a year ago on upgrades so the wound is still pretty fresh! So I would like to hold on to it if possible.

Any advice will be SUPER appreciated!!

Emmigrating.

Find out from the shipping company, but in theory you could just slap it in a box.

Might be cheaper to just buy something that side, but not in the current climate. Depending on your specs, you may actually profit if you sell it now. GPUs are rare and valuable right now.

Definitely won't be allowed as normal luggage.

DHL (etc.) could help with a quote but crating it may be best.

Crating is sounding SUPER expensive hahaha. But thanks for the input! I will look in to it

I did it for a friend of mine.

Sold/gave away the PC Case - Keyboard - Mouse - Mousepad - Monitor - Speakers, packaged everything else (Motherboard, GPU, Memory, CPU Fan, Hard Drives) in nice box.
Then placed in briefcase.
Off he went.

I would sell my PC and get a laptop for traveling and then do a new build where you land.

So many more options with cheaper pricing for the big name brands.

Apart from GPU, might be worth taking that with ;)

This is a no-brainer... CUD should compel you to buy a new rig :ROFLMAO:
On a serious note, why not go with a hybrid solution. Keep the GPU (and maybe storage if you have a lot of important local data) and then build a new rig on the side where the grass is greener (i.e. not South Africa)

Are you shipping any of your stuff across?

We are planning to leave in about a year and I'm going to take my chassis + monitor but we will ship it with the rest of our household stuff. I'll remove the GPU and possibly the CPU cooler and send it.

Small things like CPU, SSDs, RAM, mouse pad, mouse, headphones, etc. should be easy enough to transport in your luggage. Take the GPU because you never know when you'll be able to get a new one. The larger things - screen, mobo, PSU, case, cooling, keyboard, chair and desk (lol) you can then buy that side.

Ah sorry I just googled that. I would have thought that fitting a case inside a briefcase would require a PC case smaller than a brief case. I didn't think of using the case as a case... silly me...

Not sure why this isn't am OEM product... should sell like hot cakes.

Just rip out the CPU, motherboard, GPU, RAM and SSDs/HDDs, then sell off the rest.
