Way back, when Intel we’re making their current 22nm CPUs, there were dedicated Physx cards.

Apart from the dedicated demos that made use of the extra card, they were a massive flop.

Here’s a nice review of two Titans, a 4770K and an Nvidia 650 as a Physx card.

Edit: Did anyone here have a dedicated Physx card?

I’m trying to find the original Physx cards that you could buy (not the Nvidia GPU used as a Physx card).

Back when I had a 980ti I tried a 950 (before it was sent out to the new owner) as a physx card, maybe I did it wrong but I saw nothing besides higher temps on the main gpu

I only know about people using a second GPU as a Physx card. The dedicated cards was just something I read about in PC Format.

PC Format, NAG.

Dead. All dead.

I remember people buying the first batch of Physx cards and they were very expensive and quite shit.

ASUS PhysX P1 Card

Today the ASUS PhysX P1 Ghost Recon Edition will set you back ~$273, but comes bundled with the full PC version of Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW). When you take into consideration that GRAW costs $47 plus shipping (Newegg Link) to purchase individually the cost is more reasonable, if you want the game that is. ASUS will also be releasing the ASUS PhysX P1, which is identical to the other model minus the PC game GRAW. No pricing on the stand alone version was available during print time.

You don't need PC Format or NAG anymore: you've got Linus Tech Tips! 😂

Ah, man, how long since I've heard the term PhysX. Makes me miss my first PhysX game - Mirror's Edge. I bought a GTX 460, was my first PhysX card. Loved the living daylights out of it, and loved the living daylights out of Mirror's Edge. Played that game non-stop, just for the PhysX. Loved it. Where are the days when we had that much hype and passion for something so simple? These days all you hear is "RTX is new but man it runs like crap on most affordable cards so it's not worth it" and then get a ton of memes on it.

At the height of my CUD, when titans such as 1Day and mrbean roamed the earth, I bought an ASUS PhysX card. This one:

Of course it wasn’t long before I traded it in for something else. [emoji1787]

What memories...
