i may have one (along with possibly some DDR RAM for the laptop) but need to check.

However, are you saying that she already has a 60Gb drive in (and thus you are looking for something bigger) or that you would take the 60 Gb drive (asking because I think the one that I might possibly have is probably somewhere of that size)?

on a somewhat related note, there was a PIF going on some time ago of someone who had a laptop (slightly better than yours I think it was) from a guy based in Durban I think - maybe look through the old posts and see if he still has it and would give it to you for free - you could then fix it up (think it had a HDD missing as well) and give it to the lady instead.

Thank you for going above and beyond. Stay blessed.

Will most definitely keep you in mind, also run a little charity drive and have PC components come in now and then. If I come across a laptop/IDE HDD, will touch base with you.

found the post from the user that I was talking about::

it's been a while though so not sure if he still has it. From the looks of it, it seems somewhat close to what you have - but possibly better than the celeron machine. I also see that my IDE drive is 40GB in size, which may not work for you - in any case, maybe get in touch with the user in the above post and take it from there, and let me know if you want me to look for the 40 Gb IDE drive that i mentioned in my post..... good luck,

She has a 60 gig ide but it has failed, and am looking to replace it for her out of my pocket to help her as she does not have money to spare, any size i can get that is the same or higher would be great

I have one from a Dell not sure if will work. It's brandnew yes I said brandnew lol

Thanks for the mention @Jinzaroth

@The_Italiano if you don't come right with @veez007 send me a PM, I have 2x ancient laptops here (both use IDE). 1x is essentially a complete unit which I know is in working order, believe just a key is missing from the keyboard. The other I have been unable to test as I haven't been able to find a suitable power brick... Point is I'm sure there are some bits and bobs here that can get the laptop going again...possibly even with a bit of a RAM upgrade or something.
