INTRODUCTION

Hi.

I have a proposal for anyone needing any assistance with any routine, non-critical ICT work which their team doesn’t have the time or enthusiasm to do.

BACKGROUND

My son recently completed this 2 year course;
MCSA | MCSD | CISCO | I.T ENGINEERING – iStudent Academy

The main goal of the course was to introduce the students to a wide range of ICT technologies, so that the students are aware of the many career paths in the ICT industry. At the end of the course the students don’t have any in-depth skills in any particular technology.

My son wrote and passed one or two of the easier Microsoft Windows and SQL Server exams, but he found the more advanced exams difficult to pass without any working experience, so he never completed his MCSA.

While he is sitting at home he has been working on getting his A+. He has already passed the first of the 2 exams.

PROPOSAL

As everyone knows, it is almost impossible to get a job without a few years of experience.

I, on the other hand, have over 20 years of experience in the ICT industry. I started with desktop support, moved on to network administration, systems administration (Linux/Windows), database administration (SQL Server/Oracle), Oracle ERP administration, basic web development (HTML/CSS/Javascript), Python, bash scripting etc.

Currently I am working from home, so my proposal is this;

In order for my son to get some work experience he is prepared to work for free and I will be his mentor. Obviously, this arrangement will work best for remote support or simple project-type opportunities, but if he is required to attend to any hands-on work he is based in the Cape Town area.

I will assume full responsibility for the quality of any work produced.

Regards

in case anyone has doubts about @LanLord , I have personally known him for the last 20 years or so, (and worked with him the first few years of the period we have known one another. )
