Position Wanted: I'm currently studying Both Programming and Networking, I am about to finish my last year and am wanting some experience. My school operates One week on one week off. So every second week I'm free to work full time. But also the afternoon's of On weeks. I've also done a bunch of self studying in the 3D rendering field using blender and have gained a massive interest in 3D modeling. I however haven't been in this type of work environment so I wont be fully competent right away. But I'm excited to learn!

Employment type: Permanent .

Salary: Not a lot, just enough to help pay for my studies.

Starting Date / Notice Period: Whenever suits you, I'm free right now.

Location: Located in Pietermaritzburg, KZN.

Job experience/skill: I have very little experience in the I.T. industry. But that's why I'm here!

I'm here to learn, thus meaning that if you're needing someone to do work at record quality in record time I'm not your guy. But if you have space and a bit of patience I'd love to help out. Thank you!

Edit:

I'm unfortunately unable to move locations as I have no funding for rent. So preferable within KZN. I know its unlikely but anything is possible!

I've learnt C++, C#, JavaScript, HTML and some work with Azure's VM's. As stated above I am however open to learning newer things and do have some basic knowledge in 3D modeling using Blender. Please view this Ad as an apprenticeship! Thanks for reading.

Bump!

Edit - Wanting to drop studying my second year (Networking) in place of a job as there isn't enough money to sustain it. So if position requires full time work I'm able to! Thanks.

Maybe elaborate on the Dev skills you have learned and used as part of your studies. I would also suggest that you open up to moving to one of the larger cities like Jhb, Pta, Dbn, or CPT. I can't see a company employing a fresh out of uni/college person and allow them to work remotely.

Will do! Thanks for the input.

Like Werner said, if you could post some more input. Kinda wish you were Pretoria would have definitely been able to help you out with an intern/small job. Good luck to you!

I wish I were able to relocate, it would make this so much easier.

I think however the opportunity will come eventually, just need to be a bit patient!

Good on you for keeping such a positive attitude! Idea (not recommended as such by an idea non the less) - drop the 2nd year of networking & use that money for relocating / rent if you get a solid offer out of KZN?

Check Cybrary, they have free monthly courses, with certs of completion. Lots of Azure , AWS, networking and security there. There are also plenty of YT channels to help with learning the basics Ie Prof Messer, Jerremy Cioara etc.

Some YT channels:

I would look at this - https://i.lensdump.com/i/iHcJHP.png and see what could interest you in the next 1-3 years. Keep building projects, getting certs (even cert of completion) it will look good to possible employeers.

Have you thought how you can make money so long, on your own? Ie Learn how to setup , program & secure Google Home / Alexa / IOT devices. You could charge people money to setup the kit, program it and document it.

You could also learn how to do basic Wordpress website optimization, security etc. I'm sure your coding knowledge would help you here, especially on the frontend.

I would keep my mid-long term eye on programming and only programming. It will pay off sooner financially, at least in my opinion / what I see on payscale VS say networking/sys admin etc.

I'm more than happy to have a chat over skype & see what I can share with you. I can give you some decent free training on Windows tools/techniques to help you with some basic skills, that you can monetise ASAP.

Hey man, people like you make me love this platform. Thank you so much for the extensive input. I'd love to chat and learn. I'll drop you a PM tonight and we can discuss. Thanks again, to everyone, who has given me advice.

My parents had unfortunately chosen to pay for the 2 year package, which over the course of my studies would save them a bit of money, so I dont have the money to relocate, nor to get myself a decent PC as my parents will have to continue paying for my schooling, and as most people know, money isnt in abundance recently. I was kind of hoping to work so I could atleast make enough money pay for my own schooling thus take pressure of my parents. I'll have a look at all of these linked videos and do my research.

Thanks.
