Good Morning all Carbies

I hope someone might be of assistance or might have experienced the issue before,

I have an mitsubishi outlander sport 2013 model with 250000km on the clock, recently i have started experiencing and issue where when i start the car and idle it for about 2 minutes and start driving my RPM will jump between 1500 and 2000 whilst moving, after a while driving around it will balance out automatically to 700RPM.

After an hours driving the rpm will run between 900 and 1100 and when switching of the car and starting it again will go back to 700RPM.

I have taken the vehicle to Diagnostics and the bought my own OB adapter and the error I receive is P0500 which indicates to a faulty speed sensor, be that as it may my speedometer and rev counter is working 100%.

Under my freeze frame i have found a P0400 error which states Closed Loop using O2 sensor. Now i have had the car at two guys and both failed to get the issue resolved. As im not an complete idiot with cars i just might need some guidance in where to look some more over the weekend maybe

Do the vehicle actually rev up to the rpm or is it just the revcounter that plays with you ?

I see it was posted in May, was it resolved yet?

It sounds like wear and tear issue for all manufacturers. Could be worn out idle control valve, a dirty or failing throttle body, or vacuum leak at the intake manifold gasket?

Hey man it actually revs up to the rpm

If I were you I would have a look at all the sensors and plugs and wiring ,cam, crank sensors, also check at throttle body ,if sensor not dirty plus the fiitings and plug conector(Wiring & fittings) Also check for cold sensor ,fast idle switch if it has one. also check your speed sensor if not full of oil in the fitting & plug & wiring is good as you recieved that code as well as the wiring at your co2 sensors, sometime they come loose at touch exhaust and make a short or break.
Hope that will help.

Fantastic i will have a look at this at give you guys in the loop thanks!
