Android/React native app that allows service providers to receive booking requests and fulfil service.

Please PM me and I'll share my email address so we can talk more.

Did RayLeigh get banned?

I must maybe get a reseller sub and start advertising "web dev/coding/systems" as a service.

To be blunt, you’re not even going to make that money from the reseller sub back haha. Been down that road. People expect work for peanuts. Unless you are cool with charging 10% of the market price :p

Mmmm ok. Ja... Being a dev for over 10 years when I'm at a braai the conversations usually go:

Q: "what do you do for a living?"
A: "Software dev/programmer"
Q: "Funny you should mention that! I have an idea for an app. I don't have any money at all but I will share profit with you"

Currently self employed, doing some contracting work whilst looking for clients to build a new business. Let's see what 2018 brings.

I know that conversation all to well. And it usually ends up either a re-hash of an existing "product" and/or that they cant contribute anything (skills, contacts, marketing, etc.), but still want you to do the work and they get the profit.

I always end that conversation with voetsek :p

There's a BIG difference between owning a web dev company, and having a one man team working from a bedroom. Both can be successful, but I assume RayLeigh is most likely the latter, with the inclusion of a lack of client professionalism.

This thread is gold. I have that convo all too often, and I normally then ask them to create a proper specification. The ones that return with a well researched and prepared specification are often worth working with.

99.9% of the time they either are too lazy to even draw up a spec, or realise the idea is shite while drawing up the spec.

Lol such unprofessional responses. Surely one should reply to the clients request i.e. drop a pm so client can share email address. if you can't even get that first step right and instead ask the client to pm his WhatsApp to you...

I concur. We have issues with lack of professionalism and it negatively effects those of us who are trying to start up a small business.

On the flip side, I had a request from someone last week, where the brief went like this:
"I want to build an app that allows people to order alcohol and get it delivered. Can you give me a quote to do that?"
I was shocked...

At least it was to the point and you knew what the person wanted :p

But yeah, I agree. What Devs should remember is that they are good in their domain and users got their own job they are good at. They also might only have an idea for an app/site, but might not know what exactly is needed to get it done. So to even draw up a flow chart, which sounds easy enough might be a challenge.

Your attitude is great and I'm willing to do a lot of business with you. I'm guessing every other carbie in here wants to suggest you and your services as well. Lol wtf

I've got a great attitude :-D Rather do business with me :) but legit... need something.. drop me a line.

Lol... I knew that they wanted something, but why not use the app that is currently on PlayStore?

That is something that we take for granted. But that is why we try to educate people when they ask for random apps. They just assume that because you say that you develop for Android that any idea they have is firstly app-worthy and secondly something that you HAVE to do. :p

You forgot the "but it should be easy" part as well. I love those. I always end those with if it should be so easy then go and do it yourself :p

Hahahaha... Yip, I forgot about that.

Jesus dude calm the hell down.We don't appreciate people with your impatience and attitude on Carbonite. If that's your attitude towards other members hit the road. The OP will respond when he has time
I've encountered business owners like him before. Their businesses don't last because they blame the consumer for their mistakes.
