So in trying to hop on to this NFT train thats flying by, I made an NFT of an animated GPU.
Whats best way to go about promoting my single item? or am i out of my depth here

Most successful NFTs that i see are part of huge collections of multiple similar items, and there is huge hype surrounding them 🤷‍♂️

Number 2: My nft is on the Polygon network not on the ETH main network (which has heavy fees to mint an NFT)

Any advice from NFT collectors or artists would be appreciated.

Profit in poot coins

I do not understand NFT's, you can literally right click save image on that gif?
Yeah, you can, and you can load the gif into photoshop and decompose each frame and recompose it, but if you try to list it as in nft, then the the first person who listed it has proof of the date they minted, and opensea will take it down (maybe), however if you mint it on another platform or it goes by undetected, then yeah fraudulent copies may go undetected, and many do.

But what does one do with an NFT?

I don't mind NFT's & whatever TF is going on with them.

But R4k for a gif? negative fam xD Go look at Binance's NFT section, okes are literally taking pictures of ancient/old sculptures & artworks and ask $800-3k for a picture, that's just fokken poes domb & direspectful to the time the artists put into their work.

If it is actual artwork/digital art it's fine, but obviously again some are just exorbitant.

Yeah its messed up that dumb images sell at sky high prices sometimes, but if there are people giving their money for these things, im sure as hell gonna stand in line

Soooo in other words if I tell you to jump in a fire you'll...

I don't mind seeing a gif for R100-500(already exorbitant) but fucken thousands on a gif xD I'd rather stay poor xD

EDIT: & with this I leave this conversation xD

The jumping in a fire analogy doesnt really apply here, because there is no harm and cost to myself.

If you'd rather stay poor when opportunity presents itself does that make everyone else dumb? Well then...

So what if I go mint Google pictures as nft-s?

I mean I don't get it. I can go make a picture of the Mona Lisa or my anal and mint that as a nft, no?

Yes, correct, you can do exactly that, however if the actual legal owner of the artwork can prove its theirs, then they can log a complaint an the nft will be taken down if its still on the NFT marketplace. However the "art" and "photo" NFTs are not the ones fetching high prices. It the "generative" NFTs, these are created on chain via an algorithm. The creator inputs various graphic elements (eg: if the theme is a car, the creator will make multiple elements of bodies, rims, colours, decals, bumpers etc etc.) They then code it to randomly generate a specified number of variants combing the elements in set proportions. The result is artworks that are unique to each nft, as they were created only on the blockchain and dont yet exist anywhere else. You can then copy and paste this resulting image anywhere, but there is only one true actual NFT version that is made of the multiple elements and has the data to show it is indeed part of a specific collection, and its ownership history and price history.

Intelligent people leverage art NFTs as means of money laundering. The rest is just hype, opportunists tryna make some cash or sheep blindly following. 🤷‍♂️
There are actual uses for item NFTs though... In online games etc.
