Hunt: Showdown

So the last update for the alpha dropped: http://steamcommunity.com/games/770720/announcements/detail/3027979050191204006

Seems like quite a decent patch for a bunch of alpha fixes, specially the graphic and UI options are added and quite a lot of people have gotten a boost of perfomance, basically from 0 perfomance to at 'least something' perfomance.

PS: 14gb dl for those that wanted to know.

Hmm interesting move.
Just released to EA.... R319 I would say thats priced pretty much exactly what I thought, I know I'll be picking it up because the alpha definitely peaked my curiousity.
Eyyy PancakesZA knows what I mean.

Got a copy tonight ! Played a few rounds - game looks great with Reshade ! Performance could be a bit better ! But so far it's been pretty fun ! Got a bit of a Resident Evil vibe xD

I played a bit of the early access, it was a bit cool and all... But i was bored

Really love the idea and all i just think at this current point the execution isn't the hype they sold in my opinion...

i always had high hopes for this game when it was showcased but after getting to play the alpha i am two minds about getting it right away . it took me 10 minutes to find a game and when i did , we finished it in 5 minutes . And like the post above ... i got bored after one game . it has potential to be great but im not sold on it now .

Yip I can definitely see your guys point and also some discussions on steam.

Will just put down my experience with the game for instance: I just played a duo with my mate: 5 mins to search and load, and 1 Hr of gametime with us killing > banishing > extracting bounty and was incredible fun.

I just enjoy that it's slightly something different, and also it's great to see devs get involved and really try everyday to improve. However like all EA there are tons of problems with it and if you can't deal with breaks and bad performance then I would say hold off and it's perfectly understandable , once it fully releases or gets closer with more content it will be a solid game. But for me it's great to have a game I can jump onto and be slightly different then my usual games.

game looks awesome.

Man CryEngine V looks amazing, too bad cytek has zero idea how to build on their own engine because that video is nothing but smoke and mirrors... If they could ever get their game to run that smoothly and look that good I would fall right off my chair. It's a great game that my friend and I really enjoy, but every patch is worse performance and looks worse. They have two major issues, performance, a 1080ti that dips into the 30s and can't get more then 70s on 1440p and the worst server code that has to be reset every single day. If they ever, ever fix that, they will get their player base back to 10 000 a day.

Hunt: Showdown is Free to Play this weekend if anyone is keen. :)

AND it's apparently getting SA servers :/ NANI!? - LOL , I mistakeded SA for South American servers xD much waH xD

Played a match, and it feels really rewarding, the environment is on point, sound is interesting, me likey this game so far :), really good feel and just different :)

Game is good, servers are trash, optimization is bare minimum, cannot play due to 20-30 fps unless you are looking at the ground. You constant hitch, lag and freeze all over the place, it is still playable, it's just not a very smooth or pleasant experience.

Only played one game today so far, they had a patch released and the game seems to feel more stable, graphics on low and all that but it doesn't seem to make that big of a difference, and doesn't detract from the experience, ping is a little lower at 175 and the fps is definitely more stable, good experience overall :).

Hunt: Showdown (Test Server) :: Update #2.3 - 17 August, 2018

Hunters,

Here are the details for update 2.3. Please note that this update is significantly larger than usual. We have made some changes that will allow us to deploy hotfixes in a much more efficient manner going forward. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

Version: v0.375
SteambuildID: 3039926
Client patch size: ~12.8GB

Highlights

  • Water Devil – Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…. this update introduces a new special AI that will make wading through the Louisiana swamps a bit more of a challenge.
  • New weapons, consumables, traits and tool - Liquid Fire Bomb, Waxed Dynamite.
  • Badges for Rank and Prestige – Badges have been added to correspond with different ranks and prestige levels which will be displayed on the Bloodline screen.
  • Changes to Fire and Bleed Damage – Both fire and rending damage are less punishing, making it easier to stop them and also recover burning team-mates more reliably.
  • Endless Rank-up – Upon reaching max Rank 100 in the Bloodline, players can now continue to progress and unlock additional money rewards instead of Prestiging.

General Updates
AI

  • Added a new AI - "Water Devil" to the swamps
    • The Water Devil will predominantly infest parts of the Louisiana Bayou swamps and will react to Hunters entering the water nearby
    • Hunters can try to outrun, distract or kill the Water Devils, but don’t get caught up in deep water as this can bring a swift death. Tread carefully.
    • It is possible to defeat individual swarms of Water Devils, but eventually a new swarm will take its place in the area; use the moment wisely.

Developer Notes:The Water Devil see’s the introduction of the first new AI since we launched Early Access in February. Our hope is that this AI adds a new level of tension to the swamps while traversing through the waters. We are intentionally keeping the number of Water Devil spawns low, resisting the temptation to add them around every corner (we want the water to be slightly more challenging now, not impossible). This means that you will still be able to traverse the water areas as before, using them to attack compounds from unexpected angles, bypass groups of enemies on land, or to make that quick escape to the extraction points to get the bounty to safety. However, we also want players to never again fully trust the calm waters, giving a health feeling of paranoia. There might be something lucking beneath the water so take a moment to check before diving in.

Your feedback on this new addition is very important to us so please let us know about the experiences you have when encountering them. Do you completely avoid the water now? Are there too many or too few? Do you feel they are a good addition to the game? What would you change?
Be sure to let us know on the Test server forums on steam, in discord and on our social media channels.

  • Bosses will now converge on players that attempt to hide inside the arenas (that corner you thought was safe… won’t be safe anymore).
  • We have tuned the behavior of the bosses when players are near the arena. This will mean that there movement will be harder to predict ensuring they are less exposed to high damage opening attacks.
  • The Butcher will now always have his fire throwing ability from the start to better deal with players outside of his reach.
  • Grunts with torches will now inflict some minor physical damage in addition to setting the Hunter on fire.

Audio
  • Audio pass made to the AI cast to improve audio over distances. It should now be easier to determine how far away the AI is from your location
  • Improvements made to the Hellhound audio. Snapping sound radius has been reduced as this was misleading and giving the impression they were closer than they were.
  • Based on community feedback, we have reduced the volume of the audio produced on the accolades screen
  • Further tweaks and adjustments made to audio occlusion to minimize the edge cases where it is possible to hear through the terrain

Gunplay
  • Initiating the reload process will no longer cause your hunter to stop sprinting.
  • The Poison Bomb’s toxic cloud lifetime has been increased to 120 seconds.
  • The insect swarms from the Hive bomb will now linger for up to 30 seconds before they disperse if they do not find a suitable targetIncreased the damage of the weak and exhausted melee attacks with the Sledgehammers to be more in line with the Wood Axe.
  • Weak melee damage has been slightly reduced on all handcannons to be more in line with pistols that have an attached buttstock.
  • Romero 77, Romero 77 Talon, Specter 1882 and the Auto 5 now have a reduced crosshair spread giving them slight more accuracy at range.

Developer note: Shotguns are now grouped into 3 categories (Long barrel, medium barrel and short barrel) with the accuracy of the weapon now being dependant on the barrel length. The longer the barrel, the better the accuracy giving them more reach over their smaller cousins. This change is intended to boost the early game Romero 77 shotguns as well as the base Specter 1882, and Auto-5 Shotguns, making them feel more reliable to use over distance than the Caldwell Rival 78, Specter 1882 Bayonet. The medium barrel and handcannon (short barrel) remain unchanged.

Hunters
  • Hunters can now vault through windows that contain breakable glass.
  • Changes to Burning
  • Holding “F” to stop burning will pause the burning process during the duration of the action (releasing
  • Standing in fire will while holding “F” will not pause the process and you will continue to lose health chunks from burning
  • The fire effect will only remain visible on a downed hunter while their health chunks are burning away (no fire on a body means the hunter is fully dead and cannot be revived)
  • Downed hunters health chunks will now burn at a slower rate, giving the teammate more time to revive them
  • Hunters now need to walk a few meters in the water before the splashes will put out the fire.
  • Changes to Bleeding
    • Holding “F” to stop bleeding will now pause the bleed-out process during the duration of the action
    • Slightly reduced the distance at which shotguns apply a bleed effect

Developer Notes:
This update sees some big changes to the fire and rending damage, making them less punishing as well as removing some frustration that has been experienced in these situations. Here is an example; you are shot and start to bleed, now even at 1 health point, you can avoid certain death by pressing the “F” key in time to stop the bleeding damage, or save that health chunk from fully burning away. Downed Hunters are also most likely to outlive a lantern or fire bomb thrown on their body as we have increased the time it takes to burn away all of the health chunks. We hope that this combination of smaller changes will make suffering from secondary damage effects easier to combat and recover from.

  • Some lines are not localized (showing as @____)

Anyone playing this still? Looking at possibly getting it if we have a few players to play it somewhat regularly. Really enjoyed this game in its free weekends and since it has a sale going now I may be tempted to grab it before it leaves early access.

The ping for me seems so bad. I have Fibre but like there is a noticeable delay. I'm trying to switch between servers but seems the same all around. But I still like the game. Mahn the atmosphere of this game and sound is amazing.
