Hi all,

I wanted to check if anyone has tried to get the Huawei B618 in bridge mode by loading custom firmware which might require one to open the device and bridge two pins? I have everything that is needed and it seems to be simple but I can't see if that then will definitely allow bridge mode?

Hi there.

I have never seen custom software for the Huawei b618 modem.

Depends where your google location is set to, check out
I found a lot of articles in Europe

what do you mean by "bridge mode?"

PPPoE over the wan port or a wireless bridge (repeater) setup?

I also have a B618, using it with MTN Fixed LTE.
I have yet to figure out how to NOT use the B618 for DHCP....maybe this is what is referred to as using it in 'Bridge Mode'?
I have a Mikrotik router I am wanting to use to manage routing and provide DHCP services for my local LAN.

You don't need much if you don't have access to the router leave it as is. Now setup one port on your MTK to get dhcp on that port and set it up to be your internet port.

Then setup rules for your devices to be able to get internet via that port on the MTK. Or you can just mascarade everything out that port.

Then setup dhcp on your MTK and make sure your wifi is via the MTK or other device that's plugged into the MTK.

You can turn off the dhcp on the B618 I think? But the thing is you have a double NAT then, most people don't want that.

I believe this is what was happening when I previously attempted to turn off DHCP on the Huawei B618 and use another router for DHCP on the local LAN. I must find time to attempt what @solz advised above.
