Linux and bamt is a little bit different to setup. Google is your friend and bamt 1.6.2 is a must

I want to get into mining Dibzzz, if it's not too much of a hassle. Right now I want to try the "free faucet" thing and see if I can make just a Rand or two. Will that be possible/viable?

Hi :)

The only mining that is hip hop and happening right now is ETH, you can use your gaming computer to mine so you might already have the correct gear.

Thinking of starting a ETH mining help thread.

Hello!

Thanks for the feedback. If you do start the thread, please don't hesitate to link me in it! I've got a laptop at the office as well which isn't powerful by a long shot, but I guess the GT840m might be able to rack in a Rand or two a month? So far I've made...lemme check... 0.000061 Bitcoin from merely suckling at the teat of faucets for a minute or two a day.

I want to set the laptop up to mine when I want it to, for example when I'm out on surveys (which happens A LOT) or so forth. Anything to get the coins in, IMO. Probably seems useless, but eh.

I've installed Bitcoin Core by now, but it wants to do a ~80GB download which won't be allowed at the office hehe...

I wouldn't bother with Bitcoin core. If you want a good bitcoin wallet just use MultiBit (I don't like the HD version I find the Classic much better)

Been using Multibit as my main BTC wallet for years. It works great and no massive blockchain downloads.

I will link you sure :)

GT840 is not going to yield much ETH mining hashrate. I get 1.5 Mhash on my 2GB 7730m which is peanuts.

Is your GT 840 a 2GB version?

Right, I created a wallet. Now what? Can I get different types of coin in there, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum-things, etc. etc.? Or is it all the same, essentially...?

EDIT: Oh yes, and I meant to say that all my currency is currently in a "Xapo Wallet". It's not a desktop wallet (that I know of), but it's minute amounts, so I'm not too worried right now. I do have a MultiBit wallet now, though.

Use uphold as my btc wallet, one can have multiple wallets on there like eth, gold, and other currencies as well.
