How is this allowed ??? Racist at the highest level ??,

My point again ... how is this allowed at the highest point which in fact is where we should start to correct the previous errors and mishaps... if government itself continues these practises how will it get better anywhere else ?????

Government should be stopping this not promoting it ...

If the thread affended anyone or they feel hurt by it. Then go drink a glass of concrete and man the F up. This is smack talk and we are diacussing a matter in our country which we are all a part of as we live here, pay taxes and make a go at it.

The thread eas not started to hurt anyone but to show what is wrong with the country. It is up to us to vote for the correct government and stand up whem they do wrong to others based on gender, race or anything else.

If the post said they are not allowing African/Asian or Coloured people to apply for jobs the thread would of been the exact same. This is not ok

Lol. Why should this thread be closed? Things of this nature should be spoken about. If this was aimed at any other race the country would be up in arms.

Replace the words "black, white, Indian and coloured" with W, X, Y and Z and you'll see the problem. It's just blatant exclusion.

This why threads like this go in one direction and this is down. I said nothing nor stipluated any opinion other than this thread needing to be closed. I've seen how this ends in forums like mybroadband.

People get angry and anyone not picking up a pitch fork gets attacked. This is a tech site and I'd like for it not to get marred like mybroadband with all this religious and racists inneundos.

It started with an attack on Shimmie then on me ... That pm for me is a def ban. Attacking another member is not on

People can air their opinions ... But don't attack others

since when is taking the feelings of everyone on this forum into account a problem, no matter where i stand on this issue, all i asked is for consideration for the rest of the community.
 
I think people problem is they get offended on others behalf? Like what if the person that originally was offended really didn't give a fuck? What gives you the right to then force your opinion on them?

You miss the point. Whether it was Shimmie or you ... It was an attack on a person on a forum. It was not even about the topic being discussed ... This could have been a discussion on apples. But these political and racists themed threads get people all revved up where they see red and anyone not in the fight gets attacked.

But all means air your opinions on what ever topic it is ... But don't discriminate against another race or person.

We should be more careful of what we post, and not to antagonise any members.

It's the internet, not a pre school. If you can't take the knocks don't walk inside. @shimmie was trying to be a nice guy. But his wording completely fucked it.

The problem with threads like this, are comments like these. Sure, I agree 100% that the OP relates to racist policy; and I don't condemn anyone for being upset/angry about it. However is this quote not also a racist remark? Are we to assume that all members of particular racial groups are bound to social stereotypes? Surely ineptitude is not limited to the colour of one's skin. Comment on the policy, but don't seek to assume causality based on perception.

This is why threads like this can become offensive, not because people are expressing their feelings or standing up for what they believe in... but because some people don't know how to deliberate a topic without sinking to base arguments.

He could've worded it better. Rather saying that hiring/firing based on race/gender/sexual preference instead of merit/qualification will likely lead to problems.

Let me get this straight, you want threads like this that call out racism to not be allowed so other members who are racist can feel more at home on carbonite?
This has nothing to do with our diverse membership , this is simply a post about racism. It should be allowed and should be discussed. I do not want racists on this forum to feel more at home.

Is what the Yes platform doing okay ?
Can you not allow a grpup of people to apply for a job solely based on the colour of his skin ,be in Black White Indian or Other.

It's an appeal for votes. I understand the counter argument saying that those that are able to apply were previously disadvantaged, my issue however is is there an endstop for the previously disadvantaged? It's 27 years later how many more do they need to rid themselves of the previously disadvantaged status?
