Specifically relating towards electronic goods, do you prefer that your purchase has some type of warranty, even if it's only something like 6 months, or don't you really care?

Warranty certainly adds value for me. With the nature of second hand hardware, rma generally works in your favour if the item is a series or two to old. Will be replaced with a new series of similar value

Curious: What item(s) would you say is fine for no warranty, while which item(s) would you DEFINITELY want a warranty for?

If something is half the price of new then I don't care about the warranty, also if the warranty on the items is only a year then having a warranty doesn't make too much difference cause a year goes by quickly. As long as there is a dead on arrival warranty then the item should be fine for the long run if it is working when it gets to you.

Personally:

No warranty on cases, peripherals, fans, cables, air coolers
Definitely want warranty on things that can heat up and cause problems, like GPU, CPU, AIO Coolers.
Neutral would probably be things like RAM and Motherboard & other type of expansion cards (WiFi cards, Bluetooth)

If its a computer component and its over R1000 then it MUST have warranty or I wont buy it.

*Unless im buying a 1080ti for R2000 :ROFLMAO:

So ye, price dependant

I don’t give a shit about a warranty for a CPU because I’ve had 6 Ivy Bridge chips and none have died, even after a delid with liquid metal.

Chassis, RAM don’t need a warranty for me. I’ve had so many RAM modules that won’t die that I don’t care.

GPU, motherboard, PSU are my must have a warranty items.

I generally avoid second hand PSUs, but I caved in when I could get a Corsair RM75i for R1500. 10 year warranty and Corsair support is legendary.

I like a bit of a warranty if it's available and it certainly impacts how much I'm willing to spend. Also depends on how desperate I am. If it's an item that would have had a substantial warranty but for some reason, it now doesn't, I usually get a bit skeptical and would opt out and rather wait for one that has a warranty. Lack of a warranty when there should be one is a real annoyance for me. It does help when sellers compensate for this by providing a personal warranty of sorts but only if their standing in the community is high.
