Hidden Gems (underrated anime)

Myanimelist and anidb are likely to be far better sources to determine top X, crunchyroll [used to] only count based on the viewership numbers of the shows on their platform, which has an artificial limitation based on which shows they are able to get licenses for and which licensed show they are allowed to offer based on country or regional agreements, furthermore crunchyroll historically only offered dubs and only fairly recently now offered simulsubs (but simulsubs typically suffers from low quality translations, which impacts on viewership), resulting in a lot of the legacy/veteran crunchyroll anime viewers being more likely to be dub watchers, which automatically filters out a lot of anime as most anime don't get dubbed.
Yeah, most of those sources end up offering more or less the same content. The main issue is that Crunchyroll is missing a lot of anime I want to watch. I usually just download everything from Nyaa, add it to Plex, and stream it from there. If a service doesn't have a proper app for smart TVs, it's a dealbreaker for me.

Even if you remove Chrunch Roll you are still left with:

My Animelist with 1.5 million reviews and a score of 8.2 and 23 most popular on the site:

IMDB with 75k reviews and a score of 8 as well:

But its a super underground anime, extremely niche and a hidden gem :ROFLMAO:

have you watch the anime?

Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma;
Grand Blue Dreaming; Grand Blue;
Kakegurui;
Castlevania (Netflix);
Saint Young Men ✰ (Seinto Oniisan) ;
Net-juu no Susume;

yup.... that is definitely less popular and more ... under the radar.

I'm outta here. Disregard me as a normie with no taste in anime.

You keep getting it wrong. :ROFLMAO:

Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma; 20 million manga sold, 86 episodes 5 seasons.

Grand Blue Dreaming; Grand Blue;: Highly praised on community databases, frequently cited by enthusiasts as one of the funniest pure-comedy anime and seinen manga series. 4.9/5 on Crunchyroll.

Castlevania (Netflix); 3 TV shows, over 30 videos games. One of Netflix most successful video game adaptations ever made.

At this point I might as well explain to a rock what a hidden gem is and I will get a better reponse.

You'd need the Hubble Space Telescope to spot something that underground.

Castlevania absolutely slaps!

okgay, most of the kids i know that watch anime, havnt watched it, not my fault i live under a rock. to me it is underrated.
First it wasn't popular because its not being pirated enough. Then it's only popular because of the stair scene. Now it's not popular because kids your age aren't watching it.

You sound like someone who got walked in on while jacking off to their favorite big titty anime girl and is now trying to explain it away. 🤣

Isnt all this mainstream xD

My guy Re:Zero is widely regarded as one of the most popular and influential dark fantasy/isekai series of all time. It is THE show that kicked off the isekai craze. It temporarily dominating the Top 5 spots on MyAnimeList for MONTHS. Re:Zero as the #1 most popular anime in Japan among teenage boys and girls, beating out massive mainstream juggernauts like The Apothecary Diaries and Sakamoto Days. The graphic novels sold over 16 million copies.

But "iT iS nOt MaInStReAm" :ROFLMAO:
I'd say the recent craze brought it up this high the recent season got it up there. I was always a fan since season 1 and 2. But only after the recent season dropped did I see it flood my fyp lmao

Once we're done measuring weenies here fellas....

Anime discussions usually end up like this due to all the autists gathering in one place.

not a hidden gem or underrated anime but ‘Girls und Panzers’ is a fun watch. It has a large fan base but the episodes aren’t on crunchyroll or other major anime streaming services. Only the seven seas.

Current airing anime that needs more love.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess
Grow Up Show
Heroine? Saint? No, I’m an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)
I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day
