Long story short I've been struggling for almost 3 days now to get my Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 router (that I purchased from @ManBearPiggy a while back) to connect to through my recently activated Vumatel fibre.

Up till now I've been using the router without any issues on my ADSL line.

The link lights on both the router and the ONT are on but the light on the router stays red.

According to the Netgear website and my ISP's router configuration support pages, all the configs are correct however whenever I disconnect the ADSL line and run the connection wizard I get this error:

I don't entirely trust the connection wizard because it won't even detect my ADSL line?

Going the manual config route is also futile but here are screenshots of my settings for reference:

I've also:
- reset the ONT and router multiple times
- reset the router to factory settings multiple times
- updated the router firmware to the latest version

I was just about to call it quits and contact my ISP's support department when I remembered that my 2 year old TP-Link ADSL router (which I've re-purposed as a wifi AP) also has a WAN port. So I connected the TP-Link to the ONT box, ran the internet setup wizard, provided my fibre account credentials and within 2 minutes the wizard had set everything up and I was browsing the web at 50Mbps.

As surprising and frustrating as this was I've at least confirmed that the service works and also ruled out the ONT, fibre line and my ISP as possible culprits.
At this point I have to assume that perhaps the WAN port is defective on the unit.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
Any suggestions as to what else I could try?

Ummm you have the device set to connect via ADSL from what I can see. Where it says does your internet connection require a login you say NO as you are on fibre.

On the first screenshot (WAN setup) you'll see I've selected "must use Ethernet WAN" so on the second screenshot you'll see "Transfer Mode" and "DSL mode" are greyed out. This kills the ADSL/RJ11 port as well because the sync light shuts off.

Where it says does your internet connection require a login you say NO as you are on fibre.

When I configured the fibre connection on my TP-link router I had to supply the login credentials provided by my ISP before I could connect.
Would this be any different on the Netgear?

If I select NO as you suggest then some additional config options are displayed (see below) however there is still no connection.
