Hi all

Trying to put as much details in as possible :

Have a friend with the following :

3 PC's all running windows 10.
2 Printers connected via USB to 2 of the PC's
All 3 PC's running Norton 360

So let me explain the issue, the 3rd PC needs to print through the other 2 PC's and this always used to work until a week ago, and i am not winning at all. The shared folders i can access etc, just bloody cannot get Printing to work, did remove printer, and when trying to connect to it (network -> PC on Network-> select the printer and say connect) i get error saying windows cannot connect to this printer. I have checked windows sharing settings etc everything there is fine. The 2 PC's with printers connected to them is also not able to print to each other. When adding printer in Control panel, it does not find the printer there anymore as well.

Like i said this use to work, until about a week ago. Not sure if it is Norton update (Setting) or something in windows that has changed.

Hope some 1 here has ideas.

I can even call you if you have idea's but need more info. Just drop me DM

Thank you so much.

Does any 1 have any ideas or knowledge on how to get this sorted.

Most likely a windows update that's causing the problem

There was a whole back an issue/security issue with windows print spooler. So might have been an update to that as I had to block that update for some people.

But this could also just be an firewall issue on the pcs that's now just stricter probably Norton. Disable it to test and see. Might have to disable both. Windows firewall and Norton

I hate f** printers always an issue. Getting it to print is one thing scanning can be a real paiin. Everyday when I get a random phone call stating: Uhm, I can't print.....I start banging my head against the wall. printer issues is the the of my mental problems.

@solz will try that, trying to find way to disable Norton completely, problem is they need Norton to access FNB home valuation stuff, so i am unsure how to win here

Just try disabling for test. If it's one of the two causing the issue then one can look at creating a rull inside windows firewall or in Norton.

Network printer for me haven't caused much issues, but Microsoft on the other hand have caused some issues in the past with Kyocera and other brand but not so much with HP just my experience. But I tend to stay away from shared printers that's just asking for issues.

One can always look at a usp to ethernet adapter for printer to rather make them network printer. People also forget when their printer is shared and switch the pc off that has the printer connected to.

Can it print locally?
Are they on static IPs?
Can you find the printers on network discovery?
Windows 10 and network discovery goes crazy sometimes.
Is sharing turned on?

@solz yeah tried windows one with no Luck, might try Direct to Printer on Router maybe that might work.

@Dirtdiver no not on Static IP, gets IP from Router but after 2 years should not cause it. I can see the printers at sharing when i go into that PC, right click and then connect, it just pops up error message : "Windows cannot connect to this printer". So bloody frustrating.

Did u have any updates before issue started?
Like mentioned above MS screwed Kyocera fee months back. Might be driver as well, try install driver direct from supplier & not MS drivers

I am not sure, as the PC's are running at friends place. Problem is connecting to the printer, i can install drivers first and check if that helps at all

Could also likely be a DNS issue, do you hit file shares on IP or PC name?
