Helmets?

I’d love to try Icon one day.

And BMW and the new Sena range once they have the noise cancelling ones.

But I fear without a dealership open to letting me test drive a lid or one having a great returns policy I’ll not take the chance again to have another incident gambling away from Shoei.

I would have to agree with you there now that i have actually found a helmet that was as good as my RSI, that I will most likely purchase the NXR again if something happens, and there models last very long, so i know they will have a NXR available or if in 3 more year, have a 2.0 available.

I went to a Kawasaki and general bike dealer today. Really keen on the Z650.

There were two H2’s there. OMG teh hotness. They just say “fuck you, I’m fast” even when standing still.

And fucking ugly.... :)

If they were designed to be pretty they would not be fast. They are designed so that if you see it you know it is an H2.
To each his own i guess.

Yeah I don’t mean to imply I don’t respect it or that I wouldn’t have one.

But that doesn’t take away form the fact it’s ugly as sin.

Mooi van lelikheid.

Mmmkay boys & girls, which colour/style would you go for?

Depending if you want your helmet to match your bike but Matte Black would be my 1st choice with Hi-Viz Orange Black a second.

Matching my bike isn't a priority at all. I'm actually going for the colour in the pic I posted, but I'm also just curious about people's helmet colour choices.

I saw the yellow in real life when I went into the bike store- you basically turn your head into a small buoy. Really fucking bright.
Sounds like my kinda helmet that =D

Post a pic with it next to your bike please? I want to see what it looks like in real life. Marketing pics make everything look amazing.

Lol yeah I hear you. I'm getting it from the States - the in-laws are over there at the moment and have kindly offered to bring a lid back for me. I'm getting it for $200 instead of R4500. Catch is I have to wait for them to get back - two weeks...

That’s a sweet deal. Especially on an item like a helmet which you’ll throw away after an accident anyway.

2 weeks is nothing. I purchased expensive investment books from amazon a year ago. I’m still waiting.

The prices on helmets are insane in SA. Just upgraded to a Shoei Hornet Navigate Helmet, and paid an arm and a leg for it in SA.

You'll lose that arm and leg if you don't get a decent helmet so see it as an investment in your health.

Agreed, but what burns my but is that it is 40% cheaper outside of SA. A good helmet is worth for your safety

I tried on two helmets last night - a large Shark size I can barely get into and out of.
I can't remember the other model but it was better. Still tight but I could get used to it.

So far the negotiations with the GF are not going well but I'm not giving up.

Ah man that's exactly the lid I'd really love to have. Fits me b-e-a-utiffully but yeah, too much money.

I'v actually found that helmet prices are not that crazy here; there are just certain brands that are expensive for some reason. You also get much better sales deals in the States.
As an example, you can pick up a Shoei Hornet Navigate for R9900 here. It's $716 in the States = R9430...
