Plex is removing their app from the Windows store and providing a more traditional downloadable app instead; a good thing for a number of reasons.

One downside though:
For the TV layout lovers out there, we want to be clear about this: the long-term plan is for the new desktop app to replace Plex Media Player as our only desktop solution. The new desktop app is notably lacking TV mode, which means that we’re going to stop supporting the traditional HTPC setup (using a desktop computer connected to your TV or home theater) with this app.
.....
...so we will keep updating Plex Media Player until 30 Jan 2020

I'm not completely familiar with what "TV Mode" is, but I figured it's worth raising as I know there are a number of Plex users here.

i tried Plex and hated it because Kodi was just so much better and user friendly - and the funny thing is that Plex was a paid app and Kodi was totally freeware so i cannot for the life of me figure out why people like Plex at all

So will this affect me using my nas for my internal server? I am using plex for accessing my movies on my nas system

I used plex on smart TV. Then tried out the windows store app and hated it. Been using the desktop app and works brilliantly.

Main reason I switched was because only high end 2019 tvs support high Def audio output (Samsung 2018 models and later dont do any dts at all anymore) using e-arc.

Glad they getting rid of it. Now if only Netflix had a desktop app and not a windows store app.
