Item Wanted: Headphone amp for Sennheiser HD600
Packaging Essential: Don't mind.
Desired Age: As long as it works, anything from the last 10 years.
Location: Cape Town/George
Willing to accept a shipped item: Definitely, but I'd also be willing to drive quite a bit to pick it up.
Ballpark/Budget Amount: R1000.00 - R2000.00 (could stretch it if needed)

I know my budget isn't big enough, but maybe someone has an old little headphone amp lying around. Trying my best to drive these puppies without obliterating my student bank account. If you have any advice on some inexpensive amps to buy new I would also like to hear from you. What do you guys think of regular speaker amps/receivers to drive the headphones as I see them on second hand classifieds all the time for pretty cheap.

Thank you guys for any advice.

Ps. I would love to buy someone's JDS Labs Atom or Schiit amp, if you're interested please make me an offer.

FYI

Great choice of headies ... Use my HD600's in the office daily despite having several other exotics to choose from. You should be able to get something worthwhile for R2k. Loxjie P20, Aurelia, Oppo, Fiio ... Even some Schiit sells in that price range fairly regularly

Thanks for the advice Scubadude, I'll be sure to obsessively monitor the forums! Would you say a DAC is important? Driving it from a macbook at the moment - volume is okay, but I do feel they have substantially more potential.

Yes a DAC is important, but I would expect an amp to make a bigger difference to your listening experience. If you can stretch your budget a little something like Audio GD R2R-11 may just do the trick as an all-in-one solution.

E10K for R 2 099. I just got one. And it was a giant mistake. Because my headphones are nowhere near good enough to take full advantage of it. So now I need new ones :ROFLMAO:

Not a bad place to be 😄. I was actually just scrolling through cplanaudio checking out the deals on FiiO amps. Seems the HD600 might need something even beefier. Similar to you I've gotten myself into a real mess here. But I'm not complaining.

Yisroel from C-Plan personally emailed me after my order, which was a really nice touch. And the amp is obviously amazing. He did say there's only one E10K left and new stock is still quite a while away, so anyone who wants one should take a look quickly.
