Headband padding and earpads are worn with the foam padding of the headband very thin.
HD800 are still supremely comfortable.
These also terminates on 4 pin XLR.
There are also a few marks on the hd800

If it is HD800 you crave I would not let that get in the way. Deviation said he will include an adapter for R500. If you can solder you can make one for under R200. You may even be able to buy one from a music shop for much less. Alternatively aftermarket cables show up on (Mass)Drop from time to time.

I cannot believe the HD800's has not sold yet! I regard the original HD800 as the finest dynamic headphone ever devised. Now discontinued and replaced by the HD800S it remains at the top of the pile. I prefer an EQ'd 800 over the 800S, it is just that good. A small reversible mod (Google SDR mod) strengthens the bass and gives it a fuller sound throughout the range. The small cosmetic issues can be dealt with cost-effectively.

These headphones are phenomenal in many respects, but with my gear and my ears they just don't do it for me, much as I tried to love them!

No question this is a huge bargain for anyone who wants to experience what the HD800 is all about. You will not come across a better deal.
