This guide should help you getting started with mining.

First you will need a high end ATI GPU (high end as in fast not necessarily HD 7xxx but rather HD x990 x970 x950 x870 x850).
Here you can see what speed your card should be getting:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison
https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Mining-hardware-comparison

You will need at least 300kh/s to make money (scrypt mining).
Download cgminer or reaper (It’s relatively easy to find on google).
Since its way better to mine scrypt currencies I will base the guide on that but if you want to mine bitcoin you can just remove the scrypt command and it should work for bitcoin mining.
Cgminer setup:
after extracting make a new txt file in your cgminer folder.

Based on your gpu you will use different commands. It will look something like this:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o fcp2pool.dyndns.info:9327 -u username.1 -p password --shaders 1440 --worksize 256 -g 1 --intensity 18
Go to the second link (github) and look for your card. You will be able to find the correct flags to add for your card there (if the table doesn’t fully show use firefox to view the flags).

save the the file as a .bat(file > save as > save as type = all file type > filename.bat )

Reaper:
in the reaper.conf you must add the device number of your gpu you want to mine with, an example is:
kernel reaper.cl
save_binaries yes
enable_graceful_shutdown no
long_polling yes
cpu_mining_threads 0
platform 0
device 0

mine litecoin

litecoin.conf:

Based on your gpu you will use different commands. It will look something like this:
host fcp2pool.dyndns.info
port 9327
user username
pass password

protocol litecoin

worksize 256
aggression 18
threads_per_gpu 1
sharethreads 4
lookup_gap 2
gpu_thread_concurrency 1440

Now you should be able to mine, all that’s left is getting your wallet and a location to mine.
Wallet for litecoin: Litecoin - Open source P2P digital currency
The wallet must first sync with the entire transaction chain, this takes a while. You can start mining before the sync is done tho. The important thing to know from your wallet is the wallet address, this is what people/you use to transfer coin to your wallet. Backup your wallet and save the .bat file. If your hhd break or you format your hdd you will lose all your coin unless you have the wallet.bat somewhere safe.
Where to mine? You can google litecoin pools and you should find lots.
Like: https://www.litecoinpool.org/ or ltcmine.ru
I’m also hosting a small local p2pool.
This should allow you to mine feathercoin and litecoin with lower rejects.

connect: fcp2pool.dyndns.info

FC port: 19327 LTC port: 9327

username: feathercoin/litecoin wallet address password: anything

Stats:
FC: http://fcp2pool.dyndns.info:19327/static/
LTC: http://fcp2pool.dyndns.info:9327/static/

fee = 3%
If you never use p2pool before, unlike pool mining p2pool will payout after every block and it will show up as mined in your wallet. You don’t need to register, simple point your miners to the url/port with your wallet address as username and you should see you first payment within an hour.

usefull links:
https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc (to check your ltc per day/week/month)
www.bitx.co.za (to sell btc for money directly into SA bank account)

I trade my ltc when its 4 to 5 usd worth for bitcoin then I sell my bitcoin @ www.bitx.co.za.

Nice. I see that the P2Pools have a 10% fee that people should probably know about.

I'd like to add that it's highly recommended to add multiple pools to your miner so that they switch over if the primary one fails.
It sucks when your miner has just been idling overnight because your primary pool is under a DDoS attack.
Not sure about reaper, but with cgminer you just add multiple -o , -u, and -p combinations.

Changed it to a 3% fee on the p2pool (forgotten 2 change it after testing ^^ thx)

Just started mining as well with some help from shadowdmg and kllr123.

Getting just under 500 but not too sure on all the settings and command lines etc. Will have to read up some more.

My config cgminer.exe --scrypt -o pool.give-me-ltc.com:8080 -u Username -p Password--shaders 1792 --worksize 256 -g 1 --intensity 18
GPu set to 60% FAN speed and it's hovering at 80 degrees but it's cold tonight.

For mining you normally need 100% fan speed to protect you card from overheating, use MSI afterburner to manage the fan speed of your gpu.

I'm gonna give this up before iv really started. Not comfortable with my card sitting at 83 degrees, vram at 92 and 88. maybe will try again when I have a better cooled case.

Powercolor Radeon HD 7970, 53 % fan speed, 69'c. Why are your cards so hot?

And I'm guessing you not going to share your secret with us n00bs either ;)

So far I'm getting the best results from CGMiner but the Give me lte website won't acknowledge my work rate in anyway.
It will say 7kh/s instead of the near 600 I'm processing at.
I'm Using BitMinter to see what I can get and it is more stable but it's less effective and sitting at the 440 kh/s range.

I was avrg 480. Set at 13 intensity. I found at 18 I can't do anything else on my pc. Give me ltc, we mine ltc and that Russian site all registered my work, but only the ru site cashes out when you want to.

There is no secret. I'm running 1.200v for 1125 MHz core, 1500 MHz memory, 53 % fan speed (locked at 53 %) and never passing 76'c. Right now I'm sitting at 71'c, early this morning it was 69'c. All I can think is you have rubbish airflow in your case?

Lol, you don't need to think that, I don't have any airflow through my case. That's my next cud purchase: a new case.

I have the Gigabyte Aurora which definitely has terrible airflow. I remember the NAG guys moaning about it. It has a hotspot just below the card.

I've been eyeing a new case lately too.

Crack, put a 12 cm fan blowing directly onto your card. It'll drop the temps by a lot (to 71 deg) and my fan is sitting at 55%

I am currently mining BCH, however there has been such a drop in the profits, Can anyone recommend a stronger Crypto to mine now?

Also my Hashrate averages around 13.5T per day is that normal? with a PPS Profit of 0.0055 daily average, is that normal?
