hi everyone, hopefully someone can shed some light on this topic for me.

im looking at buying a graphics card. and i donr know which one to choose from the following two cards. both the same but two different brands.

MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4GB vs gigabyte GTX 960 4GB g1 gaming

are there a big difference between the two?

Thanks

I would prefer the larger fans of MSI rather than 3 smaller fans of Gigabyte, more optimal in my opinion. Get a 970 rather. lol

If they both have same warranty then i would check which cooler works better. Further than that i think they are almost the same cards but i am only speculating. Have not looked any further into it than these remarks. Good luck

thanks, i would luvvv to get the 970 but im already stretching the budget with this one, lol was supposed to buy a gtx 950.
i would keep that in mind, still asking and looking around. thanks.

In my honest opinion I would go for the Gigabyte. Nothing against MSI - I had one of their 970's and was not disappointed in any way. However, after owning a Gigabyte G1 Gaming I would buy nothing else ever again. It feels more solidly built, the cooler is efficient and very effective.

Keep in mind that I have had: MSI GTX970, MSI GTX960, Asus Strix GTX980Ti, and a reference card.

Still Gigabyte all the way!

I have always been an msi fan lol but recently bought a Evga 980 ti sc and thus very impressed ...the cooler the backplate top quality

The only issue I have with EVGA is the ones i looked at only have a 1-2 year warranty were as gigabyte has three. That is a massive decider for me.

At the price you are about to pay id go for the MSi R9 380 4gb .. You will get more performance for the same price if you shop around. I had already ordered my fiances 960 GTX when i saw the difference and changed it when i went to collect at evetech. And personally think her card runs games better than my 980GTX . its just looks smoother.

Can't go wrong with either. G1 and Gaming are both top cards. That said, the MSI seems to cool more effectively.

In the past 18 months I've had an MSI 780, an Asus 780Ti, an MSI 980, a 980 HOF and now a Gigabyte 980. The Gigabyte and HOF were the only ones that had any coil whine, the G1 definitely runs cooler than the MSI but the MSI is quieter.

The backplates on the HOF and G1 are awesome and sorely missing from the MSI cards, but I don't know how that translates to the 960s.

I think if you're going to be pushing overclocks then go for the G1, otherwise I would personally go for the MSI, but honestly there's pretty much zero difference...not sure how the warranties compare though. If there's a difference there then let that swing your decision.

Thanx everyone for their input, really appreciate it, i currently have a msi gaming rig and i think ill go with the msi, however now im considering the R9380.

Thanx Again

Hi

If you are looking for the R9 380, I would go with the Gigabyte G1 Gaming. Takealot has it for R3 999.... Bargain

To everyone that gave me advice, thanks alot, i made a final decision and i bit the bullet and bought the MSI GTX970 4G.

Thanks Again

Supposed to get 950, shopping for 960, bought a 970.

Merry CUDmas dude. Good choice; enjoy.

Not sure if it is too late and if this is 100% true, but i've heard the EVGA cards are decent and come with a 10 year warranty :) maybe worth a look

And one of the distributors is having a special tomorrow :p
