Going DICE

Lol.. Ok so its not a sealed container then?

Nope, not unless you want a very nasty explosion and no way of topping up (which needs to be done every few seconds with LN2 or every 15 or so minutes with dry ice). One liter of LN2 evaporates into almost 650 liters of nitrogen gas, and one kilogram of dry ice sublimes into over 500 liters of carbon dioxide.

Can u not have a breather pipe and filler pipe?

Like i said.. total noob.. just curious.

We've tried all these things believe me. The system we have right now is the cheapest, most direct and most effective way to do this. The cold also spreads throughout the board btw, including on the underside.
The only viable self contained solution is a cascade systems and those have their own costs, so you're looking at over R10,000 minimum and that will not give you Dry Ice temps which costs you max R500 a session.
If you're super serious about going Extreme, you need ideally two pots, a dewar, flasks, temp probes, sealing spray/art eraser/ armorflex and shop towel. and of course the LN2 from Afrox which is going to cost you minimum R3K per session.
It's an expensive hobby, but if you just go DICE, you can save on the Dewar and LN2 obviously and pay maybe R800 per session in total (acetone + dice)

Whiskey with freezer ice sounds much easier and cheaper and loads of fun for hours!

Oky so I have not updated this thread since moving over to AMD Ryzen, I have some 3950X results but I'll only add one for now. All of the other results is with the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X at 5.2 to 5.275ghz. Unfortunately where I am living now access to Dry Ice or LN2 is somewhat limited so it will continue when I have a session with @Gouhan and @Oj0 sometime in the future.

Firstly some Cinebench results

Now some Geekbench results

Now for some GPUpi with CPU

Now the only AMD Ryzen 9 3950X result which was 3dmark11 physics

Back to the 5950X but some 3D Benchmarks

Sorry for waking up this old thread but I'd like to add more results going forward.
