Hey guys,

I am wanting to get my 2 year old daughter/family a medium size dog.

There is a a strange amount of scammers selling dogs online, I am wondering where are the best places to go get a dog? I grew up with dogs but I have never been through the process of getting a dog.

Also looking for breed recommendations, something medium size that would love my very active daughter :D

And before you ask - we have a large garden (I need to dog-friendly it a bit though) and we already go on daily walks to tire our daughter out.

I see how my daughter loves her gran's dog and I see no other choice than to get one :D

Don't buy, adopt from a shelter.

Can highly recommend Bella's Guardian Angels - animal rescue

Got my dog from them and couldn't be happier. They'll ask you about your lifestyle and stuff and find the right dog for you.
I second this, We have a lot of beautiful dogs being dumped in shelters that just end up being put down so rather adopt from there.
We adopted our 2 Rottweiler/German Shepherd cross breeds from a shelter as puppies.
One unfortunately passed away due to cat flu, but that was gotten on our yard somehow, the other survived it and she is the most beautiful and loving big puppy you can imagine.

Where in CT are you?

We adopted a cat from Tears who also foster dogs. There are tons of great shelters so have a look at them.

I have a border collie who is wonderful with my kids.
Extremely playful but very gentle and loves to run. (They need lots of exercise and stimulation)

Full grown he still fits through an oversize cat flap and does not take up.mich space on the bed ;-)

Not at all against adopting, leaning towards it now :)

Staffies are great with kids- but whatever dog U get train them.

Dogs can do 2 functions- run with ur daughter and keep your family safe.
