Hey guys,

Busy dabbling in some home automation.
I have just bought some sonoff switches for now and have done a fair bit of research on tasmota/home assistant/node red etc. For the time being I am using ewelink and Google assitant and have basically automated my external needs.
I have done the pool pump with a POW2, my security lights with a R3RF basic and my 2 garage doors with the 5-32v inching switches.

I would just like some advice on how to automate my electric gate. I would like to have it accessible via the ewelink app should I need to open up for friends/family if I am not there. The issue is it is out of WiFi range and would be a little hard to extend the network as far as the gate. Is there a way I can communicate via wifi to RF and open the gate? It can be direct to the gate's receiver if that were possible or is there an RF version of the inching switch? And if so can the sonoff RF Bridge be used to send RF signal rather then receive it?

Hey bud. I watched a video on DrZzs channel at some stage where he attaches the gate remote to the SonoffSV as a makeshift "remote wifi button". This would help if your gate is out of WiFi range. I can't post the link now as am at work but try and check out his channel or just Google "SonoffSV - Remote" and it should point you in the right direction.

Hey man!

Found it! what a simple solution. I have a spare remote at home. As well as a few sonoff's SV's. Just a matter of some soldering and im sorted, I knew there would be a fix for this, I just couldn't find it nor did I think of using a remote! Brilliant!

Thanks a mill!

I didn't find the exact Drzz video but whilst searching for it I found this video:

Which is what was exactly described above.

So basically I'll be opening a centurion nova remote, taking out the battery, using a multimeter on continuity to establish the bridge on the remote button. So baiscally as the remote button has been pressed find continuity between to points. Then solder 2 wires(one to each point) and connect to output on the sonoff. This will imitate a button press on the remote. Make sure sonoff is in inching mode.

I'll be taking power from the garage door circuit(24v) into a sonoff unit that has a variable input of 5-32v DC. I'm currently using 2 of these Sonoff's to control the garage doors. Honestly such a simple yet smart solution to a problem that I was definitely over thinking.

Glad it will work for you! I must be honest, I can't remember whether the video was one of DrZzs' but it was definitely among one of those Youtube rabbitholes that I watched whilst messing around on his channel.

I feel you! Crazy how you can spiral through videos, it's like an endless void. But thank you for the tip!
