Hi All,

So, the reason why it's a 90 day warranty, is because my dashcam before this stopped working in Dec, took it to Garmin where they replaced my broken one with this one.
Garmins warranty policy is that, the original warranty is carried over OR its 90, days which ever is longer. As the original warranty ended in Dec, 90 days takes effect.
But this is a brand new unit.

Cheers,

FYI

Also, if were to drive from cape town to joburg, how will it record all of it? I would have to stop and replace the sd card right, it has max capacity of 64gb

These devices rollover, Iv got a 64GB SD in my 65W Garmin Dashcam and the length of video you can hold on that thing is incredible. If for say 6 hours of travel fill the 16GB SD card it will simply start eating away at the beginning pieces of your trip and carry on rolling forward however it will ensure you always have a 6 Hour period to go back on.

The idea is not to have 30 days of video stored on the device, the idea is that if something should happen you stop shortly after, connect to the device via your mobile and download the video clips or take the SD card to a PC and transfer it whichever is easier at the time.

Cool, thanks for the explanation!

Besides the "rollover" functionality which overwrites the oldest files as it goes, most cameras are able to "lock" specific files (each file normally is about 3-5min of video) either when a "knock" is detected from the g-sensor, or you manually pressing a button. The locked files will not be overwritten.

Is the length of the loop determined by the size of sd card or is it limited to by time?
