Item: GALAX GEFORCE GTX 970 HOF (4GB DDR5 256-bit DVI-I/HDMI/3x DP)
Age: 5+ years
Price: R1200
Payment Method Accepted: Cash / instant EFT
Warranty: None, but you can have 7 days to test. Full refund if it breaks on you or you change your mind before then, and bring it back in that condition.
Packaging: None
Condition: Externally looks fine but is a bit dusty. May have instability in the longer term.
In the past has displayed some artifacts when running for a long time at very high temps (~80C+).
This disappeared when I used MSI Afterburner to control the temps and keep it under 80.
When I tested most recently, temps stayed well under 70 thanks to the three fans and I didn't experience any artifacts.
I played Monster Hunter World for an hour or so and managed to get 30+ FPS on highest. Nioh2 gets 50+FPS on highest, too. Didn't see any artifacts. It scored 58.1% for a GPU on UserBenchmark.
I have experienced some startup issues with this card where the monitor would not register a signal. Most recently, I couldn't get it to start up when using a specific one of its three DisplayPorts. Restarting a few times and using a different port seemed to fix this, and I couldn't replicate it again afterwards. It might be intermittent or a once-off, I can't say.
If you've got a bit more technical know-how than I do and you think you can fix it, or you're sitting without a GPU and desperate enough to risk lower long term stability, you can get a decent older GPU at a big discount.
Location: Cape Town
Reason: Old card gathering dust. Intended to put a Frankenstein build together out of old parts and gift it to a family member but never got all the needed parts. If no one wants this I will probably go ahead and do just that.
Shipping: Sure, on you
Collection: Sure, I can bring it to V&A Waterfront and I'll stick you for a coffee at Cooked.
