Bit of a noob question, what sort of benefits would I see with 16gb of RAM? I've got 8gb of the above mentioned RAM, so I need a bit of enticement here :p

I run VM's on my home server, I can only do like 2-3 at most at a time with 8GB due to allocation sizes upon startup.

The 16GB kit I got now allows for several(6) to be loaded at once without an error within Hyper-V bitchin about ram allocation.

If you have two NIC's on your mobo I would recommend setting up a virtual linux firewall, so that it acts as your router(router then is purely a AP), makes troubleshooting very easy :).

This is purely a network mini-server environment I'm using to state the need for more RAMz.

The most prevalent reason on carbonite seems to be the incurable CUD.

So there IS that... :p

bump.

would one of the mods please move it to the right category asseblief. dankie
