Hey guys,

The company I work for is looking to hire a full stack web developer.

Ideally, they are looking for someone with roughly 5 years of experience in front-end and back-end web development, who can essentially "hit the ground running". The prospective candidate will be employed on a permanent contract (subject to NDA), should they meet our specific requirements. Remuneration is up for negotiation in the region of R50,000 to R60,000 per month, depending on the candidate's experience and proficiency.

Here is an outline of the core languages, frameworks and database solutions that are being utilised.

Languages:
  • PHP
  • SQL
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

Frameworks:
  • Vue (VueX, VueCLI, Vue Router)
  • Node and NPM
  • Axios
  • UIKit
  • Tachyons
  • Materialize
  • Pug
Database Solutions:
  • MySQL
  • phpMyAdmin
  • MongoDB

The company is based in Newlands CPT, and specialises in electrical, electronic and energy management consulting for the retail sector, with a comprehensive online platform that is used by our clients to oversee their energy consumption.

Should you be interested in working with us, please drop me a PM with your CV or any other relevant information or queries, and we can take it from there :)

Just an fyi, using a contract basis to circumvent the probation period of employment in order for an employer to get a "get out of jail free card" instead of addressing poor work performance or any short comings of the employee is risky at best.

A contract position should be used for what it was intented, a person going on maternity leave, a specific project that will last x number of months and you are short staffed etc. Contract period can be extended if project was not completed in the anticipated timeframe.

The CCMA will not rule in your favor, so dont use it as an easy way out for not properly screening new recruits.

My 0.02c.
As you were, good luck with the vacancy.

Thanks for the information. I am not the CEO unfortunately, so I do not set the rules. He asked me to look for someone to fill a role and gave me some brief details. I thought posting it here might help him find some plausible candidates. I will make him aware of the above information though.

Interested to see the proposed salary. There is a lot of study time invested in all those job prerequisites. 50K pm min would be a starting point imho.

Good luck to candidates.

I'm trying to get an estimate from him. I did say that someone with that much experience will cost the company roughly 40k or more per month. He really just wants someone who is competent, and can do what they say they can do, as he has been messed around before.

Okay, I have just spoken with him, and he has said that he wants someone only on a contract basis. The first contract will be for three months to tackle a new project, and from there, there will be the possibility of further contracts for future projects. As for compensation, he is open to negotiation in the region of R40,000 or more depending on experience and proficiency. I will update the original post accordingly.

Bumping this. I have made some changes, and brought the post up to date with the company's current requirements/expectations :)
