Forza Horizon 5 Babbelbekkie

Next up is the online mode. Without fail every 5 or so minutes you will lose connection to the session, this would be fine if the switch over to solo mode was seamless, but its not.
AFAIK this was resolved and faster event load times

Can anyone list the pro's and Cons to this game.

Im Dying for a good Test Drive unlimited replacement.

(Basing this on Horizon 4, but if I understand correctly, there aren't major differences). It's an open-world arcade racer.

You have a garage with all your cars. You can upgrade performance and do visual mods to all of them.

There isn't really a story. There are race series based on race type (dirt, road racing, off-road, etc.) and a few "storylines" which are basically just series of challenges. Some series have entry limitations (car types and/or performance rating) so it is helpful to have a big garage.

After each thing you do you get XP and at certain XP milestones you get a spinner that gives you cars, cosmetics, or cash. Early on you get a spinner pretty much after every event so your collection builds up quickly.

And there is a weekly roster of challenges, race series, stunts, limited events etc. that also allows you to unlock more spins, cars, cosmetics, etc. This updates each and every week.

In terms of physics it is moderately realistic. It's not full arcade-mode like Burnout or NFS, but it's definitely not aiming to be a driving sim. And you can crash through most barriers and trees and things without a major impact on your speed. There is also rudimentary damage and tyre wear but nothing super intense either.

Overall if driving around a big, open-world and doing races of various types in lots of different kinds of cars sounds like fun, you'll enjoy this. It really is very enjoyable. The only reason to skip it is if you A) want a proper, involved story, or B) want super-realistic sim-level physics.

That said, if you don't have Xbox Game Pass for PC there is currently a special where you can get 3 months for $ 1. Which means you can play the game (and lots of others) for 3 months, cancel if you don't want to continue the sub, and decide then if you want to buy or not.

Thank you for taking the time to describe the game :D I appreciate it.
This sounds exactly like test drive unlimited but with active servers. <3
I will look into this Xbox Game pass. (how big is the game?)

Now if loadshedding would only decide to not happen in the only bit of free time I have today :(

Does it bother you how much slower the pace is compared to AOE3?
I can't accept it quite yet.
Definitely required a bit of getting used to but I am also fine with less of a 0 to 100 approach that would happen within the first few minutes of a game that would throw me off completely. I really do enjoy my defensive fort and wonder building games so it does better the experience in that sense. Each to their own I guess, few of my buds absolutely hate the slower pace completely!

The cars in the game bug me quite a bit, since horizon 3 the majority of cars hasnt changed. Hopefully the dlc can add some new first time cars to the series, I mean the gr yaris is not in the game, this thing must be included in upcoming dlc. Across the board though I think a lot of the manufacturers in the game could use at least a 2018+ model lineup update

I'm really enjoying this game - playing it with a controller now - but what is so nice is also seeing familiar names of people I've played with appear in game... Can't wait to race with you guys!!!

There does seem to be a few issues - no forza shop for me and can't seem to join on friends (gives issues) but I expect that to all be sorted soon.

First impressions.

- They didn't mess with the Horizon formula very much at all, which is a good thing. There does seem to be more content though at first glance, which is cool.
- Graphics look great, definitely feels like an upgrade. Reflections on cars and light bloom look really nice.
- Optimisation is pretty good though - can still do 60+ fps at 1440p at Ultra settings (the second-highest preset) with my 3700X/1080 combo, I was scared I'd need to upgrade the GPU to get a good experience. If you switch to Extreme though it drops to around 45 fps but I can't see much difference between the visual quality of the two presets.
- Servers and network are shit right now. Doesn't maintain connection for more than 10 minutes at a time. But Horizon Solo is fine for now I guess.
- No game crashes as yet, but two bugs: environmental textures aren't loading properly, and it didn't accept my speed trap result - I had to change away from and then back to the car I was doing it in.
- Drivatars are more challenging. I used to be able to beat Unbeatable level around 95% of the time on FH4. But now it looks like I'll need to drop it down a level or two. Reddit seems to corroborate this.

Last night was rough for me, had 4 crashes on launch, online didnt work at all which was annoying because over the weekend I could at least take part in the arcade events (unlocked 1 car that way). Still enjoying solo mode though I'm done with all festivals so need some online content

I believe you do get rewards for owning previous titles, the cover cars for each of the older games. I think this is only ms store though not steam because its linked to your xbox account
Yep and liveries from previous Forza's are transferrable too.

@dash09 Check what was posted in BB's discord channel #Forza

Crashes due to AVG and Discord (I see overlay on searches)
Last night the culprit for me was afterburner, which was odd because over the weekend it was fine. Havent had any issues with running discord. Hopefully the online mode gets sorted soon, I want to test out my drag tune.
Is it possible to gift cars to specific players when playing in the same session? Reached over 100 unique cars in my garage last night and I have a few duplicates as well. Been leaving them in barns for others

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y got around to some gameplay this morning. I'm really surprised at how it performs. Just for lols I cranked all settings to the highest they would go, motion blur off and 2x MSAA, 1440p. My sig rig (1080Ti, R5 3600 non-x) was holding 70fps comfortably, lowest 60 (jungle water splashes) and highs in the low 90s. Really happy. I'm sure I can get it over 90fps consistently with some tweaking.

Time to dust off the old Momo wheel and see if the force feedback is supported...

Anyone else had an issue where the game just disappears on pc? Was in a convoy last night, when the usual bug comes up and two guys disconnected. So we decide to leave the event and my game crashes. I go to start it up again and it's just missing..
Thought I'd fire it up on the xbox while I wait for it to download it's 110Gb again, and it keeps crashing there giving me error code E:1047
You'd swear ProjektRed made this game the way it's so buggy

Ok so my latest bug is that the game simply won’t load. It was working fine, then I changed some graphics settings that required a restart. Now when I load the game the “Loading…Please wait” thing freezes like this and the game just never loads. Keeps playing the music and pretty flybys though…

I’ve tried setting the graphics to the lowest preset but that didn’t help. Sob.

Edit - As always, I found the solution immediately after posting here. Hitting (or sometimes spamming) the windows key got it working.

I've had it before as well. Just have to make the game lose focus and go back in then it normally comes right.

Hmm? Less activity around here than in the FH4 days, that's a pity.

As for me...the game was crash city. I sometimes crashed within seconds after loading into the game world, other times I'd at least get to drive a few meters, other times I could even make it to an event, heck it even crashed after "optimizing" my graphics settings once or twice.

Then I wasn't able to play for a few days because my house had buggerall power. Came back and somehow everything was working beautifully just before the hotfix went live. And I haven't experienced a single crash since.

Yeah, it is quiet simply because people are struggling to actually join each other due to connectivity issues but I believe in the patch that was released yesterday, that's been sorted - I will be playing more this weekend now that this shitty week is finished.

I haven't had any crashes in FH5, let alone FH4. But PC's are PC's eh.

If you wanna join the peeps, you must speak up.
