Hi People

I need some advice

I have been on telkom LTE for more then two years using the Huawei B525 LTE router
I haven't had any problems until I started noticing a few months ago that my ping is fluctuating.

It does not stay constant it would go from 50 stay there for a few seconds
Then suddenly spikes up and over 200 stay there for a few seconds then drop again procedure repeats every few seconds.

Any advice would a external antenna help with this and which antenna.
Or is there anything else I could do.

I guess the first question is, what are you pinging?

If it's a recent issue I'd first check if when the ping fluctuates if you're switching between LTE and LTE advanced also the band that you're on 1800mhz or 2300mhz.

Ok don't laugh

I am monitoring it in game
It will fluctuate.

Is there a different way I should test the ping and how.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Should there be a setting on the router for lte/lte advanced and the mhz you are referring to?

Thanks in advance

Are you getting these spikes in all games or only certain games? I would compare the below to at least 1x game, 1x Telkom LTE DNS & Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) .

Do this when the game is running and when its not, compare results of each *set* of tests.
<IP>= IP of server IE "ping 1.1.1.1 -t >C:\ping_game_running.txt"

CMD -> "pathping <ip> >C:\pathping_game_not_running.txt"
also run
CMD -> "pathping <ip> >C:\pathping_game_running.txt"
also run
CMD -> "ping <IP> -t >C:\ping_game_not_running.txt"
also run
CMD -> "ping <IP> -t >C:\ping_game_running.txt"

I don't have personal experience with that specific router but this thread should help.

I'd recommend getting the Huawei HiLink app, you can also adjust the settings with it.
The app will normally show 4G for LTE and 4G+ for LTE Advanced, so when in-game and the ping fluctuates check via the app to see what your connection is.

thanks guys

I will check/test when at home again tonight
