Hey Guys!

I'm new here and wanted to know if I could get help as I'm looking to buy parts to build a PC.

I'm currently planning on going AM4 with Ryzen 5 5600 and RX6700XT, but would like to know what's the cheapest I'd be able build a PC for if I were to go AM5 instead.

Can anyone that's knowledgeable help me since It'll be my first custom PC (Been on console) and don't know too much about good budget components, especially in South Africa.

I seem to have posted this on a wrong thread previously as I'm not used to Carbonite.

Thank you.

Hi KuroDre, welcome to Carbonite. Do you plan to buy all items new, or are you thinking of buying secondhand? What is your budget for the PC?

Hey bud,

Help us out with your use case (I assume this is just for gaming, or is it also for any work activities? If so, which ones?)

Also, can you give us a budget. And do you need the tower only, or do you also need a screen, mouse, keyboard and speakers/headset?

I dont mind buying second hand if it is the better option. I am most certainly buying the GPU second hand as new GPU prices are ridiculous. The CPU I'm leaning more towards second hand. The other parts, except maybe the Case/PSU could go either way.

Mostly for gaming. I work as a bookkeeper, so I don't need a really good workstation PC. I'm interested in learning some coding languages, but that's at the back end for now.

My budget was R14000 if I were to go AM4, but want to see how much more AM5 would cost and If I should just save up for that instead.

I need to buy a monitor as well, but I'm not including it into the budget. Was looking for a solid 1080p 144hz monitor for competitive games.

With only R14k you will need to go second hand or AM4.
