Hi,

I'm looking to set up a workstation for my concept art work, however, I am fairly clueless when it comes to building a PC and I'd really appreciate any help/recommendations I could get. This would ideally be a workstation I can keep as-is for a number of years before needing to upgrade/replace anything. This PC will mainly be for content creation. The programs I use daily are Photoshop (4k Illustrations) and Blender (3D modelling, sculpting and rendering). I hope to be able to play games on it, but I only play casually so it's not the main focus.

I had this parts list recommended to me and was hoping for a second opinion. I don't have much more to spend on it than this but I can splurge a little more if it's necessary. All of these prices I got from Wootware.

Thanks in advance!

Actually I don't like your PSU choice either. You don't need that much power, you'd be better of getting something like the 650W gold.

Something you may want to think about. Having all the project files for the project you're working on, saved to an SSD instead of an HDD, may make working on large files much more pleasant. It also can speed up rendering in certain cases. So if I were you I'd look at all your project files and see what is the largest a single project tends to be, then get an SSD (Sata or NVMe it doesn't matter) that is big enough to fit that entire project on. Then when working copy your whole project folder onto that drive before starting to work on it, and then move it back to an HDD when you are done. I'd get that SSD in addition to the 500GB system drive you already have there, as Windows and all your installs can get quite big. For storage of old projects you don't need an SSD, HDDs are fine.

Thanks for the advice!

Just a alittle concern to ponder on
I have had the fractal messify c case a couple months ago was used less then 20 minutes and simply put just too small my temps jumped like mid 80's whilst in game with apex , if you can please have a look at CM H500M/Evolve X :) .

That B550 board for a 3900x isn't gonna cut it. I would go with something more higher end and also @Senshi can hook you up if you need 😁
Ahh okay, do you have any suggestions for a better board I can get?

I've got a B550 Aorus pro and its great. No issues and VRMs are great. You can go with a X570 Tomahawk but that also will cost more

The B550M will run the 3900X no problem (I've sold a few like that) as long as you don't intend to do heavy overclocking.

Good airflow is important too, to keep the VRM's healthy.
