Could you please elaborate on the "in-some-ways-better" part? I'm very intrigued now as I was contemplating them before the BTR5.
I will be using them with a pair of Oppo PM-3 planars

Take a look at Hifigo.com, prices for the BTR5 and BTR3k are very good and their shipping's cheap and fast. I ordered a pair of Moondrop Arias from them, $15 shipping with import fees included, arrived within 2 weeks.
