Fallout 76 - Where are all the posts and hype ?

Yeah, I agree with you - not the greatest video and sadly I don't have a 4K monitor to take in the graphics.

I never played a Fallout game in my life but the world does not look too bad.

But I see the opinions are mixed. Some like it and some don't.

As someone that's extensively modded Fallout 4 I can tell you that the game already looks dated.
A lot of the textures are terrible...In fact I dare say this game was just built with the old engine..with very few noticeable changes.
First footage I’ve watched of 76. World looks exactly like FO4.

I don't think they have made major engine changes in the better part of a decade. They will probably only build a new one for Elder Scrolls 6.

makes sense, current consoles can't even run the current engine on high, why waste money on a new engine when the old one will do,
same reason we had such shitty games on dated engines before the ps4 and and xbox one came out,
and people wonder why consoles are hated so much, they hold the industry back

I'm really a Fallout fanboi, even my PC upgrades usually coincide with releases of the franchise. Not keen on 76. For starters, online likely means I won't be able to play at my own pace (job in senior management, wife, two toddlers) and get most out of the game. Then we haven't even gotten into the engine, if there is any innovation etc.

I'm gonna try it. Major fan, enormous world, new elements.

Where would be the most cost effective place to buy it for PC? G2A?

I'm almost afraid to admit this. I bought it, and played for about 5 hours... and absolutely loved it so far. No glitches or server disconnects. Totally immersed in the world, find it beautiful, and I like that there are no humans around other than those who were in the vault.

It almost seems cool to be hating on the game, I don't know. I went into it expecting the worst I guess

Playing tonight with a friend who has never played any fallout games before, curious to see how he experiences it

It's quite fun, don't get where all the enormous hate is coming from. At the very worst it's mediocre.

The only thing that makes me angry is the terrible performance.

On the fence about getting it, despite having played and being a fan of the Fallout series and Bethesda games in general. Probably because I tried ESO recently, it felt like the compromises to make the game multiplayer destroyed what made previous Elder Scrolls games fun.

Fallout 76 seems, from what I gathered in reviews, to be a similar treatment to Fallout series. Will see, Bethesda games are best played a year after release when can get some DLC (which tends to be pretty good) and the game breaking bugs are patched out (like the amusing story of player who has got a bug that makes him immortal, which support don't seem in a hurry to fix). The game has potential though.

what PC you running it on

what PC you running it on
Oldish machine.
SSD, 4790k, 32gb DDR3, GTX980

Also, when my mate and I co-oped on Tuesday night we both loved it. There was one part where we got to Morgantown and some vertibots seemed to slow the server down for us, otherwise, good times

I'm a HUGE FO fan... played 1 & 2 way back in the day and have sunk thousands of hours into 3, NV and 4. I was extremely wary of buying FO76, it's the 1st FO that hasn't grabbed me and the 1st that I haven't pre-ordered or got day 1. I reckon at $60 I wouldn't even bother getting it. I did however manage to pick it up for $23 so decided it was worth the risk.

I've got stupidly busy recently so unfortunately I haven't managed to put much time into it, but my high-level thoughts thus far:

It's not a FO game in the traditional sense and I do sometimes miss the NPCs and "alive" environment. The feel of desolation is a pretty cool new shtick though and being a solitary FO player actually feels pretty daunting and adds to the atmosphere. I can't say that I'd really care to play multiplayer with this as it'd up the pace too much; I like to play really slowly and methodically.

The actual storyline thus far is pretty interesting and although I don't get the same "immersion" in playing the story as I did in previous iterations it's still a lot of fun. The side quests seem to be incredibly repetitive but I've not put much time in so time will tell on that front.

I've not encountered any really big issues/bugs and have not been disconnected/dropped as yet. Biggest gripes for me are: hit lag and respawns. Hits on enemies take like half a second to register and it's pretty annoying.. not sure if that'll ever be fixed though. Respawns is a weird one... I was clearing out a location the last time I played and everything kept re-spawning every few minutes. Great for grinding XP and loot I guess but pretty stupid in terms of playability to have to constantly be killing the same enemies over and over.

It plays pretty damn well even on my pretty old hardware. Graphics are cranked up most of the way and besides the very occasional lag spike (likely network?) it runs and looks beautiful.

The UI/keybindings on the other hand are absolute trash. I don't even think they can fix it but there's too much UI and too many keys to navigate it. Especially in the inventory, it's a nightmare to navigate.

I've not had any PvP encounters thus far so I can't really comment on that. I don't care for it either so unless I get respawn trolled I don't think it'll affect my gameplay at all.

All in all I'd say if you're a big FO fan it's worth getting, but not at $50-60. If you can pick it up for $25 or so, I'd say get it.

So FO 76 is about R200 on cdkeys, so picked it up. Have played maybe 8 hours so far and enjoying it. The setting is better than FO 4 IMHO and gameplay although a bit different equally good. Do miss the old perk system but the new one seems ok, and carry weight is taking a bit of getting used to.

CDkeys a legit site bud, I wasn’t sure if those prices aren’t to good to be true although they are digital downloads only correct?

Don’t mean to derail 🙈
