You are biased then, because both Oscar and Max have done their share of bitching this year. But hey, it wouldn't be sport if some people weren't overly focused on the faults of some participants while forgiving the exact same faults in others.

The team, team principal, and investors definitely care a lot about getting WDC in addition to WCC. It's arguably a more glamorous prize than WCC and it's another trophy in the cabinet, and a huge amount of extra press. So I think they definitely do care about winning WDC too.
Maybe. Or maybe you agree before the last race as a team that if there's a chance for a WDC, you take it. 10 years from now people will remember the name on the trophy much more than they'll remember there was a position swap to allow it.
I have to strongly disagree here. Lando is enormously popular among McLaren fans, and has been for ages. There was an entire stand for his fans at Silverstone, he has his own Monster flavour, there's always hordes of Lando fans at the driver talks. I'm not saying nobody likes Oscar but I think Lando is by far the more popular driver among McLaren fans.
I don't think it's that obvious that the largest group of people would prefer letting a WDC slip through their fingers, when they had it in their power to make it happen. I think very many people would much more strongly prefer to have the WDC than to not have it.
If Oscar lets him through, everyone other than Lando fans will be upset. I can just imagine the memes right now.
Of course. Knowing McLaren, there's a good chance we won't even be in this scenario, and Max can romp home to his fifth with the papaya boys both off the podium.

The thing is an F1 team mate is your biggest competitor yes you have to listen to team principal orders but your team mate isn't your friend its the other driver that either make you look worse or better in comparison. And Zak Brown literally said "I'd rather Max Verstappen win title than favour Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri". With the stupid orange teams own rules they can't choose a driver and I know Zak favors Lando.
They said they wouldn't favour one driver while both can still mathematically win the championship. If Max is running first in Abu Dhabi, then both drivers can no longer mathematically win the championship, only Lando can.
Lando literally handed over a race win to Oscar last year too. They've both suffered drawbacks and enjoyed benefits from the "equal treatment" situation.
Max has said this himself as well. As a Max fan, I'll take McLaren continuing to add to their bottle count for 2025.

I don't think Lando is going to win the race but then again he doesn't have to, he's probably going to be very safe and cautious and try finish 2nd or 3rd to try stay out of any sort of drama.
McLaren got what they wanted, it shows in how they are treating their drivers, seemingly also slughtly favouring one over the other. They dont seem to care how much having a WDC means to a driver, having potentially (rank outside chance) screwed them both out of it.
