F1 2025

Should be an interesting weekend particularly due to the uncertainty of weather. Only one practice to get things dialed in for the sprint Qualifying. Most recent weather forecast for Friday shows 40% chance of rain, Saturday 90% and Sunday 20%. The rain on Saturday will ultimately cause additional tyre wear on Sunday, which should translate into more pit stops. If we get a few showers, we may see another interesting win from further down the field.

I don't know if it really result in that though? I feel like the radio chatter, and investigation afterwards was pretty transparent, and without delay, so should hold ground.
In contrast, the Massa incident was later found out to be caused by a deliberate crash by Nelson Piquet Jr., which wasn't known at the time, but Ecclestone became aware before the end of 2008, and news broke in August 2009, after Piquet left the Renault F1 team, which also resulted in a ban for Flavio Briatore. This would be classed as new information to the 2008 incident, I just wonder why it has taken so long.
New information apparently came out in 2023 that wasn't available before. Hence the current lawsuit.

Could someone please explain to this old git what this whole lawsuit was/is about, exactly?
1. Massa came 2nd in the 2008 WDC to Lewis Hamilton by 1 point.
2. In 2009, Renault fired their driver Nelson Piquet Jr.
3. Piquet then revealed that during the 2008 Singapore GP, his Renault team bosses instructed him to crash deliberately to give his teammate Fernando Alonso an advantage. (Alonso has since been fully cleared as he didn't know about it, while the team bosses were banned from F1 and then subsequently unbanned).
4. In 2023 Bernie Ecclestone, who was the boss of F1 back in 2008, revealed he knew Renault cheated in Singapore, but decided to do nothing to maintain the sport's reputation.
5. Massa has decided this is enough info to sue Ecclestone and F1 for failing to honour their contracts in 2008, because if they knew the crash was deliberate back in 2008 they should have annulled the race results or something something [insert complicated Massa-matics here] and he would have won the championship if it didn't happen.

I get a bit hazy at the end there, but them's the broad strokes.

hmm, Ok, thank you @SilverShitter sounds very convoluted but I get the gist of it.

Yeah.......that Sprint quali has some worries.
Car does not seem good. Hopefully RB can get it in better window for tomorrows race quali. Don't think I can stomach a Norris sprint and race win.
I'm hoping for the car being setup for the main race too and a huge upset for Norris 😛 and Ferrari

and a norris win
The problem is not him winning, it is the Sky Commentry box that get so worked up and excited, it sounds like Burndle wants to run down to the pits and give him a blowie. He gets this slightly higher pitch, then you know it is the UK-passported voice.

Haha no I agree with that. But just listen to another audio channel?

No one talking about that Bliksem of an accident for Bortoleto?

That looked rough.

Also, TV direction was odd today. Quite a few overtakes (Gasly on Stroll, Leclerc on Alonso) were not shown

There is a reason Interlagos was the last race of the season.

Money does not buy you a track like this....

Fkn excited for the race.

Zak Brown is done sabotaging Oscar Piastri, and has decided to now sabotage Max Verstappen instead.
What if Max is playing GTA6 while we play GTA5?

wins from last place at the back😎 with Stroll 2nd and Tsunda 3rd

Max Verstappen will start the #BrazilianGP 🇧🇷 from the pit lane today following sertup changes made under parc fermé and the installation of a new power unit.
Makes the best of a tough situation. Both McLarens are on their last PU as well, if I'm not mistaken, so if they need to change before the end of the season, then Max's disadvantage from dropping out in Q1 this weekend is nullified.

What we need to see is both of them DNF due to engine failure and Max on the podium, that will set everything up nicely for a 3 way battle.

But I think we are now in the Lando era. Can't see him not winning this race.

Well, as Crofty et al kept carping on ad nauseum, Max DID win this same race from 17th last year, so.........

Just switched on the telly.
Looks like I've missed a good one so far.
