| FIA President considers scrapping F1 cost cap:![]()
— FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has publicly questioned the viability of Formula 1’s cost cap, describing it as a regulatory burden that may no longer serve its intended purpose. Introduced in 2021 to level the financial playing field across teams, the cap—currently set at around $140 million—has been a cornerstone of recent F1 reforms.
“I’m looking at the cost cap and it’s just giving the FIA a headache.”
“So what’s the point of it? I don’t see the point. I really don’t.”
— Ben Sulayem’s remarks were made during the Miami GP weekend, where tensions escalated over unproven claims that McLaren was cooling its tyres with water. The FIA found no evidence of wrongdoing, and tyre supplier Pirelli noted that undetected water cooling through valves would be nearly impossible and clearly illegal.
— The president voiced support for McLaren CEO Zak Brown’s proposal to tie formal protests to the cost cap. Under this idea, teams would have the protest fee deducted from their cost cap, refunded only if their claims are upheld, potentially deterring baseless accusations.
There seems to be quite a few radical shifts in the rules with MBS's of late. There is this, also the proposalto go back to a V10 engine and also he has proposed a back track in swearing rules. I wonder if he is coming under pressure and needs a few positives behind him?May the team with the biggest budget win.
Give Ferrari fans some time to grieve before next race ............. well. They and RB.Long wait boys
Exactly! We can only take so much of a beating.Give Ferrari fans some time to grieve before next race ............. well. They and RB.
I only saw now that it is only the 25th again, facken fackLong wait boys
Sooo.. Imola doesn't count?I only saw now that it is only the 25th again, facken fack
Unfacken, I missed that completelySooo.. Imola doesn't count?
So it's still a week, so is that just a "fack" instead of a "facken fack"Unfacken, I missed that completely
Basically, We will from now on and forever measure F1 weeks in fackensSo it's still a week, so is that just a "fack" instead of a "facken fack"
Max was "CAUGHT"? I am gessing this "secret testing" was "REVEALED"? Has he been "EXPOSED" using a fake name?Hey Max............what are you doing ?
Yeah I mean he probably wanted to test the car, and track would probably be worse than Q1 at Monaco if he put his real name up for testing. I enjoyed the POV's though. Has to be a once in a lifetime to be on same track as a multiple WDC.Max was "CAUGHT"? I am gessing this "secret testing" was "REVEALED"? Has he been "EXPOSED" using a fake name?
There is literally VARSTAPPEN.COM on the windscreen. He is wearing Red Bull colours. Surprise appearance, yeah sure. SECRET!!!?!?. Lol, no.
Would be epic.Yeah I mean he probably wanted to test the car, and track would probably be worse than Q1 at Monaco if he put his real name up for testing. I enjoyed the POV's though. Has to be a once in a lifetime to be on same track as a multiple WDC.
News articleWould be epic.
Just annoyed at these F1 watchers and their click-bait.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), he explained the obstacle still in Verstappen's way: "BTW if Max Verstappen wants to enter a race in GT3 at the Nurburgring - by the letter of the law he has to do two races of 14 laps total - in a car of power equivalent to a detuned Porsche Cayman. To get an A permit."
"The organisers in my experience are pretty militant about there being no exceptions - so MV in a club spec BMW/Porsche, could be in our future. I think that would be cool."
Hate to break it to you, but life doesn't stop when you have a kid, particularly when u rich n famous. They probably have someone doing 99% of the effort of looking after Lily. Also he probably doesn't want to get poo on himselfNews article
Max Verstappen is doing everything but NOT spending time with his new born child
Maybe he'll do that when new regs come out? To see which team to go to next. Or maybe he will do it in addition to F1 & SIM racing, just to piss off Horny boy & the keyboard warriors.Wonder if Max might be done with F1. Then go to GT3 or perhaps GTD ? Then later on perhaps Rally.
I wish Max was my dad too and I got me a hot blonde baby sitter too 🙁Hate to break it to you, but life doesn't stop when you have a kid, particularly when u rich n famous. They probably have someone doing 99% of the effort of looking after Lily. Also he probably doesn't want to get poo on himself![]()
The maximum penalties for drivers swearing has been reduced by 50% while stewards will also be given more discretion on deciding penalties, the FIA said on Wednesday.
Moreover, stewards will be able to differentiate between "controlled and non-controlled environments."
Controlled environments include news conferences while tracks or rally stages are uncontrolled environments.
Revealed: The genius solution behind McLaren’s game-changing brake design:
— McLaren has stunned the paddock with an innovative brake drum design using PCM (Phase Changing Materials), giving it a clear edge in tyre temperature management. This breakthrough has drawn close scrutiny from Red Bull, Mercedes, and other teams after McLaren’s advantage in thermal degradation was evident in recent races.
— The system features a micro net of PCM inside the brake drum—a mesh of tiny metal alloy tubes encased in thin plastic that absorb heat until they reach their melting point, much like an ice cube regulating drink temperature.
— These metal alloys, which melt between 120–200°C, act as a thermal barrier. By absorbing heat before melting, they prevent brake-generated heat from raising air temperatures inside the drum, isolating the tyres from unnecessary thermal load.
— The system was investigated by the FIA in Miami after rival suspicions arose over thermal images allegedly showing cool spots within McLaren’s brake assemblies. The inspection found nothing illegal, confirming the brilliance—and legality—of the design.
— The PCM mesh, positioned inside the drum ducts, ensures the airflow remains thermally controlled, preserving optimal tyre pressures and preventing overheating—an especially vital factor in McLaren’s improved long-run pace.
— Several teams including Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari are now evaluating fast-tracked versions of the design, aiming to replicate McLaren’s thermal advantage. While a debut at the Spanish GP is possible, most teams may delay until Canada due to concurrent major aero regulation changes.
The SF-25's brake duct design reflects Ferrari's efforts to balance aerodynamic efficiency with mechanical performance.
The Ferrari SF-25 features a new brake duct design, which is part of the car's updated aerodynamic package. Here are some key points about the SF-25's brake duct :
• New Front Brake Duct Scoop Design: The SF-25 has a revised front brake duct scoop design, which is part of the car's updated aerodynamics.
• Rearrangement of Brake Ducts: Ferrari has rearranged the brake ducts to accommodate the pull-rod front suspension, routing the conduit under the stem instead of through the brake duct like McLaren.
• Optimized Suspension Mechanical Behavior: Ferrari prioritized optimizing suspension mechanical behavior and heat dissipation over pure aerodynamic efficiency in designing the brake ducts.
• Experimental Rear Braking System: Ferrari is testing an experimental rear braking system with redesigned internal ducts at Imola, inspired by McLaren's efficient thermal management system.
• Improved Cooling: The modifications to the brake ducts aim to improve cooling and potentially stabilize the temperature of the rear tires, which could enhance the car's overall performance.
