F1 2022

My basic off the top of my head calculation has come to the conclusion that between Ferrari race strategy and reliability and Charles, they have pissed away at least 100 points.

If it happens, Alpine should sign DR since Alonso is moving to Aston Martin.

Isn't Andretti pretty powerful themselves on the motor sport scene or are they small fries?

It's simple: the worst team from each season should get relegated and a new qualifying entrant given a chance. NEXT. ISSUE?

They're big in the US. That's about it.

Michael Andretti is probably still butthurt after his F1 failure back in the day.

Would have , could have , should have been much closer if Ferrari did not go with plan A , no B , ....ok maybe D ............

What if: Andretti + Porsche, takes over AlphaTauri and competes from 2026?

How are they going to pry it out of Helmut Marko's hands?

Disclaimer: both Austrian team owners are assholes

With the lead Max had, the 2022 F1 drivers title was just a matter of time. Gratz to him. But wow, once again what a F1 title under "strange" outcome.

That 5s penalty Leclerc received gave him the title.

I wonder how much they actually overspent because claims floating around say even a few hundred thousand is a material advantage... and the budget was 145 million lmao

Already the Merc / Lulu fans are crying for Max to be stripped of his 2021 title.

Going to be interesting to see what the FIA does net moving forward.
As a Max & RB fan, I'm following this closely on Reddit.

I feel it depends on the severity of the offence in every situation. You speed in the pits by 0.01 km/h, you get fined €100 - not a safety risk, but you breached the rules. You speed by 5km/h - major safety risk and you'll get a much harsher fine/penalty. You cut a corner, 5 second time penalty, but you cause a collision and you get a 10 second time penalty.

Same needs to apply here with the budget caps, if the FIA wants to be consistent.

I have 2 questions regarding this breach of the budget caps:
  1. Did the extra spend go towards car development or any performance related advantages?
  2. Did the extra spend go towards staff or unforseen circumstances (as rumoured currently)?
If car development or any performance advantages were gained by the breach of costs, I will lower my head and accept that Max is not the 2021 and 2022 champ.

If the extra costs was towards staff or unforseen circumstances, I would expect a financial fine or something like that, but not the championship.

Merc has spent crazy amounts on budget over the last decade. It is clear that when the budget caps started, they immediately felt it and were ultimately beaten by RB and Ferrari. So Merc and Lewis fans should really shut the hell up. They're just salty at this stage.

I'm kinda behind Merc on this. The cost cap is the best thing to happen to F1 in a long time. This FIA + RB stuff that's going on in the background is just the same old Gpoopta state captured type stories all over again that's undermining the importance of hard work these days.

Give all 20 drivers the same RB car and let's see how Max stacks up then. Personally I think Perez deserves the championship more than Jos. I hope we see a 2016 story season next year.

If Perez isn't given a fair chance next year then as a backup I'm supporting Alpine, I just worry about so much French emotion in one place.

And I'm really considering following Montoya and making the switch to Indy if all this doesn't pan out.
