I feel like I'm getting the short end of the stick here.

Here it is.
- I purchase a custom build from Evetech - 24 April 2020
- I chose to upgrade the PSU ( and other components - the PSU is relevant to the story)
- Two months later the PSU dies
- I diagnosed this on my own, contacted Evetech, they told me it's perfectly fine to send the PSU if I were sure that it was indeed the PSU
- Evetech receives the PSU - confirms the PSU is dead and is not caused from malicious damage and falls under warranty

So here's the issue. The PSU is out of stock: Antec 600W
-The value is R1399 on their website
- Their solution (offer) is to give me R900 Evetech store credit - due to depreciation and use of the PSU

I am not looking to get a better deal out of this. All I want is for my PSU to be replaced with the same item (which is not possible due to stock) OR with a PSU of the same spec.
If i were to get a R900 PSU from their site, that would put the WHOLE build - purchased from Evetech - at risk.

I've read their terms and conditions - it's not very clear.
Here's another scenario, which would be likely for someone that is not capable to diagnose the issue:
- They return the whole build. Evetech finds out it's the PSU. They don't have stock to replace it
- Would they then replace it with a lower spec PSU?
- Or would they do the same thing, offer R900 store credit and return the PC with no PSU?

The whole thing just seems wrong, or am I being crazy here?

**UPDATE** 25 July 2020
They have upped their 'offer' which is still not a better one. See image attached.
They're now closed, so I guess I'll see what they have to say on Monday.

**UPDATE** 27 July 2020
So, after declining their offer(s) & complaining about not abiding with the CPA - I still got no response.
So I phoned them this afternoon, sales put me through support and I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but the gentleman that I spoke to was Ian O - who is an Evetech employee that someone on this thread recommended to reach out. I was told that Ian helps with scenarios like this.

Ian was very apologetic about the "miscommunication". He managed to swing a deal in my favor - which is not what I had asked for. See Image attached. He was very helpful.

Later this afternoon, the OPS manager gave me a call explaining a few things (like the face value of components in custom builds) and apologised profusely. He asked Ian to include his personal number in the email, and asked that I can call him personally if i had any issues.

Don't get me wrong, even though that this sounds positive, I'm still left very confused/frustrated that it had to get to this point.

When I had a motherboard within a month of it's warranty coming to an end, I got a full value store credit from Wootware and that board was nearly 3 years old...

So to me, this sounds like BS, they going to send it to their supplier and it will be replaced. Their supplier isn't going to say, "depreciation"

I hate Evetech, they always catch on weird kak like this.

Standard M.O. unfortunately, there multiple threads on here about the issues people have with Evetech. There are many people that never have any issues, the problem comes in when shit hits the fan, their lack of service really hits home.

CPA... Demand a full refund on the PSU... IN CASH... as is your right as a consumer.
Buy a PSU somewhere else then.
Problem with this is that on my invoice - since I upgraded the PSU from a custom build - it only states +R599.

There is no actual price.

Ask them to give you a quote on a new psu that very same model and then you email that off with your original invoice to ANTEC simple

Also in the process with an RMA with my Model O mouse. Let's see how it goes.

Saw on their quote via e-mail: "Can take up to 21 working days"

Luckily I have a backup mouse for time being.

Don't faf around the issue in calls or emails, be straight to the point. Don't try and reason with them.
Tell them you want either an equivalent replacement or a full refund for the PSU (no store credit bullshit), or you are taking them to court for CPA infringement.

I say again @joe1412 , don't try and reason with them, be concise and direct. (I know it's ironic that I'm repeating myself)

@joe1412 You in Cape Town, why buy from evetech in the first place? :|
Odd question
Like asking why anybody would buy from Amazon or Banggood or...pretty much any online store. Or like asking why would a Carbie from Cape Town buy an item from a Carbie from JHB. :ROFLMAO:
Good pricing knows no boundaries :)

People need to stop breaking their Evetech stuff - no problems then :)

@chriswp I think I'm going to take your advice and also @SILTECH786 reaching out to Antec. They told me that R900 is ANTEC's offer, not theirs.

And for all those who think I'm an idiot for purchasing from Evetech, I probably am. However, my 3900x editing build STILL works outs significantly cheaper than any other stores by a few grand. As much as I'd love to support WW and other BETTER PC hardware stores, my wallet just did not allow me to.

@SILTECH786 Yeah I already did, thanks!

@JeffTheApricot Haha only thought about that now. I guess after 6 months I will have to owe them money.
I did the math and if you've got a 3 year warranty let's just say it's fully depreciated at the end of the warranty. It would depreciate at R38.86 if it depreciates at the same amount every month the psu would be worth R1321,28 now

And throw up a review on HelloPeter while you're at it - highlighting their questionable . . . no...their downright unethical . . . practices. And perhaps pop an email off to the National Consumer Commission to boot.
Warranties with such caveats are unheard of . . . unless they're ahead of the curve and setting the trend and this is something coming down the pipeline from all suppliers soon :D

It's one thing having to deal with terrible after sales support but being fleeced/scammed by such unethical behavior is too far I reckon. There's a whole support group on Carbonite, and it pains me to mention this but Mybb too, of folks with similar stories - band up - stick it to the man dammit!

Perhaps if enough people register their complaints something might come of it.

Things can't depreciate while in warranty. They do this because people are easily fobbed off, and it's worth taking a chance at a scale they operate on.

Be persistent and they will cave.

@Qui_Illustrati wouldn't say its an Odd question, Evetech have good prices on components, no doubt but considering he is ordering a whole PC, the money he would've save would have been put towards shipping fees keeping in mind the pricing sky rocketing in conjuctions with weight and dimensions. this argument would have been null otherwise if he was just buying a single component.

"Good pricing knows no boundaries" - would agree to disagree but this IS Evetech we talking about, I'd rather spend an extra R100 or R200 at Wootware knowing that i wouldn't be worrying myself sick with after-sales warranty claims....just my opinion

also " People need to stop breaking their Evetech stuff - no problems then :) " - i mean, come on.....really?
