[EVETECH] Unfortunately, the unit cannot be replaced with the exact model due to the price difference with the new stock.

No it was from their store.
I think what he is trying to say is why do we allow them to even be on here with how they treat their clients.

I'm just thinking, if you ban someone for that reason it will be due to favoritism and not for actually scamming people through carbonite. Crap service is not scamming.

TBH I don't see the point of having their rep on the forum, that's just something they tried to save face.

They should stop their dodgy shit and honor the warranties/guarantees - there should be no need for a "rep" outside their normal channels of support for sorting out issues.

You know those times where some games don't live up to the hype or stuff is broke, people complain. They never get a reply, instead they get patch notes of x things that were added or fixed. This is one extra way of thinking or hoping @Evetech Support see these posts, don't say a thing (Would you if you worked for them and were in charge of this account) and hopefully pass it on. Who knows, maybe this thread turned the in-store credit into a refund.

That's my point though, if their core business practices was to do the right thing all the time instead of only when people air their dirty laundry, there would have been no need for this thread (and the numerous other threads). This would have been resolved already via their official support channel - Contact Evetech Custom built Computers - Buy cheap computers & discount gaming PCs

I don't see Carbonite on that "Contact Us" page. Pretty sure they screwed over a number of other innocent people that are less tech savvy and not on forums like this.

@ian_stagib why are there guys not banned form Carb yet? I mean they take every second client for a ride and its allowed?

They have an account for this exact reason how many warnings do they get?

It doesn't matter what industry or business you are in this is just plain kak service and should not be accepted on the forum IMO. Anyone else would have been told to hit the high road long ago.
If I know about it then I can deal with it. Not everyone reports things. We also provide a platform that is meant to be mostly self regulatory through the feedback system. We will however get rid of people with dodgy business practices and those that don't sort out bad deals.

*edit: I see you probably meant "these" guys. Yeah I'm probably gonna ban them.

My point is simple, an extra ping going their way could not hurt. Yes they need to do better. But since they are doing kaka now, more noise going their way is better. :p

@saa044 mate its hardly the same comparing them to a game developer  They are a local company advertising on our local tech forum. And your argument about not banning them for crap service (because its not scamming or favoritism) well that is simply an ANC way of looking at things, and the root cause of this country going to a ball of shit. Accepting mediocre and somehow justifying it.

Surely if you have an account here on Carbonite its to assist your clients and provide them better service? If its not and its just for advertising then go advertise your kak service elsewhere. Everyone knows they have a massive turnover of clients and mistakes are made which is acceptable but its getting a bit out of hand now. And they could most definitely afford to employ someone to monitor their social media and forums.

Call a spade a spade.

Get your act together @Evetech Support we have no more @RebelTech around so you need to step it up.

Yeah, it was just a thought. I agree that they are giving crap after-sales service. I guess I was just trying to find a positive spin on things.

I had my share of evetech a few months ago, trying to RMA a broken MSI X470 , they agreed to RMA the faulty board in November, then sent the same faulty board back to me in Jan, after I sent it back they suddenly claimed it was working fine and refused to replace it, going back on their word , even though I had a email stating they will replace it.

Luckily I was blogging the processes on YT from start to finish (as a public service as I know evetech has issues) and luck would have it they discovered the videos and suddenly wanted to help.

Fun fact , I phoned/emailed every MSI distributer in SA with the serial number and no-one could find it on their databases so it wasn't bought trough any of them, so you have no other option than to send it back to evetech, it's not like MSI has a office here, it really smells like grey imports and would explain them being a lot cheaper than getting it direct from a distro.

From a contractual and legal perspective, you are allowed under such warranty claims the following: 1. Refund or credit to the value of purchase price, however no store can force you to take credit if you insist on a refund. 2. Repair the unit 3. Replace the unit with the same make, model, etc. or of equal value and specification. (A store should replace the unit with the same make, model. etc. if it cannot be repaired and under the condition that they have stock on hand.) The fact that the item is now listed at a higher price or that the store incurred increased prices on the item, does not give them the right to push that as an excuse towards you as the customer, as they already made the sale and profits, etc. with the initial purchase you did and they will in return be refunded from their supplier through a claim of sorts. Just read up a bit on the consumer act.

They say somewhere on the quote that they are not responsible for this stuff but that their suppliers are

Personally to me it looks like they just want to take the easy way out and let the customer deal with the headaches. Really bad service from their side.

Yep... but they provide us the service of playing middle man (for which they make a profit) so they need to sort it out if something goes sideways or else we'd all just buy from suppliers and they wouldn't have any reason to be around.

I am starting to think "reading comprehension" has been dropped completely from the curriculum...
The forum illiterates are proud to be from the previous curriculum lol. They'll call me distasteful now.

Wait, hold on, more is coming out now...
So you approached Samsung to replace, they didn't have stock and sent you to Evetech?
Does Evetech have a warehouse full of stock?
Distributors change, shops close. If you contact the brand directly, they'll help you get the issue sorted.
HAHAHAHA DID YOU NOT KNOW THAT?

They say somewhere on the quote that they are not responsible for this stuff but that their suppliers are
WTF... They are the suppliers... Also the "C" in CPA stands for consumer, are they that dumb.
Can you share the quotation?

is carte blanch still a thing? someone drop them abit of info. Grey imports and what to do
The problem isn't grey imports, those that do it properly disclose it.
Some distributors will honour warranties on grey products if you can prove you paid the import tax.

Evetech only mentions this price difference once they have your item not before you send it in, this 'fee' basically is extortion.

I can't seem to find it in their terms and conditions. This is odd.... I can't see any thing about this in the quote they sent me either (standard evetech quote)

I suggest you do not buy laptops from them either. Look what I found:

8.7Evetech does not provide warranty services on laptop purchases, please do note that all laptops have to be taken to their respective warranty centres should any issues arise. Service centre information will be provided upon request.

Damn even Incredible Connection handles getting your laptop to Parts Serve.
When Incredible Connection beats you on service then you know things are bad.

Sorry to hi-jack.
Normally a thread will say in warranty or PoP available, but this is now a concern with Evetech’s behaviour.

Should a seller disclose if an item is in warranty with Evetech as a forum rule?

Exactly. I am going to sue for extortion if need be. It's not about the money now. They will burn lol

.I posted this on a pc enthusiast group I run on Facebook and banned all Evetech and affiliated entities from being promoted in any form on the group. In a few minutes the said employee rocks up to offer pseudo-threats in proxy for defamation etc. As soon as I responded with reference to the specific section of CPA that has you covered and a lawyer on our group responded and told him to stop talking out of his ass with the defamation threats the comments magically got deleted ... I was bummed out was hoping to get a cease and desist at very least

How would the consumer apply his rights in this situation?

If his demand for the new monitor fails, after quoting the CPA, then his only option is to report them to the consumer commission and take his refund?

Or lawyer up and sue? (If this is an option, it is obviously not advisable, given the 'loss' is only R2.5k)
Well in this case it would be small claims court so OP wouldnt need a lawyer
