It's been itching for a while now and the latest blatant disregard for decency with regards to their warranties, never mind that they're actually breaking the law in my opinion, and how it has been affecting carb members has forced me to ban, for the first time, a well known company from having any dealings on the site or with us in general. I would rather not be associated with such behaviour and it is shocking how they keep trying their luck after members here have proven them to be wrong.

I thought it was just me having issues!

I have been waiting almost two months now for a warranty claim on a Logitech G413 Keyboard. The excuse is that they are waiting for the supplier to get back them (I'm assuming Pinnacle). In the meantime I've had to buy another keyboard.
I will be logging a complaint with Logitech and contacting Pinnacle - I'm generally very patient, especially now given Covid etc, but this seems to be a pattern with them.

I wonder if a proper court case will be opened up against them, let alone how many people have been affected on Carb and come to Carb because of being affected, I wonder how many people outside have been affected and if they will ever have to answer for those mishaps. The amount money they have pulled from customers instead of just having decent pricing and not fucking everyone after a sale.

Good day,
I am a computer enthusiast and member of the forum for IT guys called Carbonite. For the last months Evetech was mistreating its customers by not honoring their warranties, selling item not in stock and not refunding money. You may find more complaints on HelloPeter, carbonite.co.za etc.
This company is one of the biggest online computer shops in SA and scams/deceives many many people. In my opinion, we must stop this practice. I can provide more links and people's contact info if needed.

While I was reading through the latest "Evetech warranty issue" thread, I was wondering how long Evetech will still last on here as they certainly do not conduct business according to what we, Carbies, are used to.

I've stopped buying from them for quite a while now even though I haven't experienced issues, but it was evident I will at some point if I continue as the complaints are flooding all over.

I do however have an RMA for a Asus Z390i motherboard going with Wootware at the moment, so we'll see how that goes, but so far the communication has been excellent.

On the thread about Evetech's Warranty fulfilment, I 100% agree with @Valheru's statement that myself along with a lot of people have never had issues dealing with their products and I've personally had a return and replacement of RAM fulfilled in short time, but when it does eventually come to service and respect overall and the horror stories I've heard I believe the ban is justified, and I will personally try to use them as little as possible from now on, especially during the lockdown.

The problem is, when people from Carte Blanche come read here and the moment they see the use of female genitalia is commonly excepted here, all credibility is lost and they will just move on.

So happy for this. I purchased an upgrade bundle from them (cpu, mobo and ram). The ad advertised Corsair vengeance ram. I ended up getting the lpx stick instead. It would be cool if they at least communicated this to me prior to the order being delivered. It's a small issue and no biggie, but it speaks words about proper comms (which is critical).

I too submitted a tip off.

I got in touch with an ex-Evetech employee (will remain nameless) and this was some of the snippets of conversation we had:

" There is also quite a bit of illegal activity going on here and there. "

" The Boss once told one of my ex colleague's that the people will always buy from them since they are the cheapest so he doesn't care about all the nitty gritty stuff, and it's true. No matter what they say on social media or what the google rating is people still buy there. The thing is they have good relations with MSI and Asus and thus get lot's of discount. They also have very big capital and buy in bulk. "

"
the owner is a foreigner and as such he does his best to help his people. About 40% of the people working at Evetech are foreigners and only about 10% of them know anything about computers (these are rough estimates and could be very wrong.). Some of these foreigners don't understand much English thus making them also hard to work with and this causes regular miss communication between departments.

The other reason for neglections is the fact that they get very busy and they have a very shitty system with few ways to communicate with other departments, they mostly use papers to print the orders and changes are made with a pen. "

Seriously evetech, Im not sure how much more feedback you wanted. You were receiving direct customer feedback (the most valuable kind!) and you brazenly ignored it, and then purposely fucked your own clientele.

If anyone wants to give me R1000 and only expect R700 back - hit me up, Rona has been a rough time...

Now we just need mybroadband to write an article on this post. So the fucking shithole company (Evetech) can shut down.

This comes just in time. Thanks all.
I'm used to people ranting and raving about good service and support on forums like this.
Was about to contact Evetech to get a good spec gaming rig since its lockdown and all, and their prices are quite attractive. They can forget getting my money now.

Definitely not a court but something with an ombudsman possibly.

Hopefully this is the last Evetech thread on Carb so I'l throw in my 2 cents here.
(Who am I kidding, we all know theirs gonna be another on Friday...)

I'll try keep this short and not repeat the things I said before, a difficult task for anyone who know's my posts

The Comic Con Special Saga of 2019:

Friend sent me a screenshot about an nvme they had for comic con (last year) and asked me to buy it for him (pay me later)
While doing so their was no option to collect but only shipping, I made the eft payment for the amount without shipping and wrote a note about the issue. I phoned them on the Monday and they say they just changed their system so no store collection if ordered online (pre covid 2019) apparently it slows everything down so if you order online you have to ship (scam ofc).
And they say weekend special is over but I can come collect for R100 more or take the store credit.*1

Evetech store credit expires in 90 days...

CPA law has been thrown about a few times in relation to this.
Regardless Eevetech stance seems to be just pay us more:
- item defective, pay return shipping
- want replacement, pay current price
Or take store credit and enjoy the whole process again.

For those who remember Comic Con ''special'' was them selling R99 mousepads with R250+ shipping
And refusing collection rip to the one carbie who lived 5km from the store.

Pretty scummy not to put in a banner / bold the details about changed shipping / collection policy

To summarize I feel that since ive experienced a lot for myself I can comment

Yes, if people have good experiences they keep buying
(even if their ''good experience'' aren't actual good experiences)

For example a friend who's headphones broke during warranty and they blamed him and he still bought a new set from them...

However I find it worse, when learned people know that what they buy come from suppliers and distributers (like syntech for antec) and they think its fine I wont have to deal with evetech or surely it wont be bad because <insert brand name> is a good rep company and I can contact them directly. Yes we know you can't buy (legally) from suppliers for personal use but don't forget who the invoice is from.

What I've gathered and experienced is that with evetech its never a case of buying something for Rxxx and thats the final price
The after sale ''support'' actively try to milk more money out of you.

Id much rather buy from amazon or china and accept additional costs like shipping, shipping insurance, tarriff insurance, extra custom costs, accidental sapo use (including extra sapo costs, possible theft, delays) than evetechs unknown / hidden costs. At least with chinese / amazon it still ends up being cheaper after all this whereas for evetech a R100-R200 difference per item usually matches other etailers.

The best part is Im not guilty of not supporting local, evetech is foreign owned...

Thanks for reading

Tagline: Evetech is the type of company to charge R120 for case shipping but R500+ for a pre-built PC. Did the PC case magically get bigger? (Yes Im aware it got heavier, it was a lame joke anyways)

Fool me once, Fool me twice right

Annexure:

*1 For one of my audiomart orders I selected collection because I was on holiday in Durban (for 3 days), the place where I was staying was nearby and choosing collection meant I could get a sub R300 item without paying shipping. On phoning them about collection they said that its not in stock locally and that it will only come in later as they need to bring it down from their JHB supplier. The apologized and said they arent able to reveal the JHB location but kept in contact with twice daily updates. On the last day before I left we spoke again and they still didnt have it. I told them not to worry about it and just to leave it aside for when I next place an order big enough to qualify for free shipping and include it with that. A few days after I got back home a courier arrived. It was the item. They took it upon themselves to ship it to my saved address. Without charge.
