EveTech bull****ing people!

I am not by any means saying they are right. Just how they calculated it. Their excel spread sheet is the wrong way around. They need to swap 2 columns hahaha

The price is not 50% off but actually more like 30% off normal price. But the thread kinda lost itself a while back so anyways ... how was that Rugby World Cup :)

You think that was a mistake?
I don't think it is in my opinion, Why not make your specials look more appetizing? Lot's of businesses do it.

EDIT: It's the same reasoning behind the whole R499.99 shit instead of just displaying it as R500

No this 1 instance is not a mistake. All of their special %s are wrong. Because they need to change 2 columns on their spreadsheet [emoji14]

Ow well ... I work with "low end" consumers and I can tell you that R12.95 is cheaper that R12 in their minds. No jokes. Sad to see but this is why we need to still price at 95 and so on

Your alternative is to go back to Matrix Warehouse and Incredible Connection days. We have options now, so if one place does not suit you for whatever reason then just dont support them. easy.

Also, does not look like they fucked you. They may have been luring you into their Bang!Bakkie® but you did not order, pay or get it delivered. Therefor, no one got fucked. :)

Yeah, I am an irritated 42 year old "kid" :p
I am pissed and wanted to share my frustration and warn those who don't (as he said) "possess the mythical skill of common sense". I never meanta to get anyone here pissed at ME and TBH I still don't understand HOW I managed to push you that far...

Apologies non the less...

But let me try one last time to make it clear where I am coming from and if this still doesn't make it clear then I will concede that I am an idiot and you may rule the world :p

If the RRP is R10 and some place decides to sell it for R5, then the RRP hasnothing to do with them any more. THEIR price is R5. If they get it for cheap enough to still make a profit at R5 and they choose to do so then that is their choice. THEIR price is R5. If the RRP is R5 and then sell it for R25 and still get customers, again, THAT is their price and the RRP has nothing to do with them. A RRP is just that ... a "RECOMMENDED" retail price... Nobody is FORCING that price on anyone..! Every place decides for themselves how much markup they want to take and whatever price they choose to sell stuff at, THAT is their price... With me so far?

Can we at least agree on THAT much? the price you pay at EveTech is their price, just like the price you pay at Checkers is checker's price just like the price yo pay at Mr Price is Mr Price's price.... Doesn't matter if you are buying a gaming rig or a can of baked beans... the price they charge you in store is the store's price. Surely you can't argue that logic....

So when a place has a special I would assume the special would be on THEIR price. Wouldn't that make sense? When was the last time you walked into Checkers and saw a label saying: This coffee is 28% cheaper than the coffee at PnP? You take a discount on YOUR markup...

So when they say "Well, the recommended price is R1000 but our price is R600... how about we don't discount the item AT ALL? We can now call it a 40% discount! Yeah, let's do that!". Now if they can say "We won't change a single cent on any of the items we sell but still run a special telling people they are saving sooooooo much"... how does that sit right with anyone?

THAT is my gripe, is all. A discount is on YOUR price... not on "what our price should/could/would have been". THAT simple. So again, why that upset anyone as much/little as it did... I don't get it... (shrugs).

Still apologies again for causing the upset, non the less.

Just wait until you start noticing that during holidays and events when shops jack up their prices sometimes to then discount it back to what they normally were xD
lol. Can't wait till Friday to check this out first hand! :D Just 4 more days to go! :D I see Woot's countdown has begun :p

EDIT: PS. in an earlier post I did mention that a developer I was following jacked up his price before putting everything on 50% sale today. So as of today I no longer follow him or buy anything from him.

Re: That remark about us not needing to have a Black Friday... I was just saying to the wife last week how we have Fathers/Mothers/Boss/Secretary/Valentines/Youth/various religious-day's on top of Start of vacation and back to school sales... I don't think there is any time of year left to have "days" on... and then they hit me with a new one "Singles day" :p "Who needs black Friday when you can have Singles Day", as Game said it! :D I was totally surprised to discover there was yet ANOTHER "day" but wouldn't you know it, I completely forgot about Black Friday and Cyber Monday! :D

They may not NEED to have Black Friday in South Africa but if there is a name they can put to a date that doesn't have a special running on it places will FIND a reason to have a sale on it. :p I think shops in RSA just saw the sales on TV and decided "Yeah, let's also do that! We have nothing else running on those two days so why not?" :D

Of course, that is just an opinion. I have no basis for this opinion other than the fact that I don't recall a single week of the year during which places are not advertising some "day of great discounts".

Is your username pronounced
Na-ga-pie, Nag-apie?

Na-ga-pie for you Ma'am but for the Sirs its Nag-apie :p

@JansenSensei look some of their prices are so so but damn those ssd prices are good. Especially that 1tb. All stores will have some cheap stuff to bring in the crowds & the other stuff is normal price or like R100 cheaper.

I bought a few items & I'm actually surprised the specials are this good. I think it was two years ago BF was like R100 off here & everywhere.

Yes their % is weird but hey if you not streetwise by now then you shouldnt shop online on your own ;)

Lol, I can tell you are Afrikaans. My coworker used to say that a lot as well. I pressed his buttons quite a bit to see if I actually could push him over but he never did. Maybe he liked me too much.

This dude is supposedly 42? Not sure if that's correct. But if it is, then he isn't a kid.
Either way. He did actually respond with a half understandable response with him actually saying he knows it's calculated from the list price. He's just irritated about it.
100% born and bread English bruv

Really?!

Lets leave out that you just said bread... as in the food. but okay ;)
You somma live in Boksburg.
Eish. I just assumed. My bad, I apologize .
Well, autocorrect. And grew up in the western Cape :) moved here to be where the money is, and then met my fiancee, who is from Boksburg :)

You weren't going to buy anything anyway.
Probably not.... My intel system is still pretty decent but I want to upgrade to an AMD system. Don't really NEED to, yet, just want to. I figured I'd let their specials dictate if I wait like I wanted to or if I upgrade earlier. Just replaced my old GPU with a 2070 last week but wanna put my old GPU in my old PC and use this new GPU in a new PC :D

But yeah, I wasn't planning on upgrading any time soon for the simple reason being that I bought the best I could find at the time so that it would last me for a long time before I NEEDED to upgrade. MY current rig can take 2 GPUs and my RAM can still be upgraded by 300% so my current system is still pretty okay, especially now with the 2070....

... but my heart still yearns for a Ryzen 9 so I figured if the prices were good I would upgrade early and get everything else now then just wait for the Ryzen 9 to be released then get that. When I got their email about the sale last week I was super excited for this sale all weekend long... So eager to see if I'm getting my AMD system now or later....

Well, today was a definite bust :( Guess I'm sticking with what I have for a little longer :)

Okay, Makes sense. So you hooking up with a Afrikaans se chick?
No judgement... I did exactly that.

I could smell you talking nonsense.

What's nonsense about it? You are probably the most Afrikaans guy I have met. Biltong on your burger, everytime ;).
At least he didnt accuse you of calculating % incorrectly xD
Give him a minute, He'll do that too.

At least he didn't accuse you of calculating % incorrectly xD
He wouldn't be able to, someone would unplug his keyboard first and it'll take him about three hours to notice.
/** standing ovation **/

Ironically enough, she's the 1 English chick in Boksburg. So bad in fact she can't speak a word of afrikaans :ROFLMAO:

Who knows how that happened. But it did

So, i hear what you're saying.

But, and there's always a but.

Advertising as the percentage saved from the rrp is not false advertising. They could have charged you rrp. But decided not to.

You are therefore saving a potential Rx amount. Vs what you would have paid, had they charged you rrp.

That's their argument in court anyway, which is why they can get away with it.

Like i said in my original post, it is scummy, as it fools noobs into thinking they're saving more than they actually are.

And i would be 100% on your side, had their discount prices be regular prices.

But, they're not.

However small the discount, whether the percentage advertised be bigger or smaller then what it actually is, the hard cash saving is still there.

They are still below their normal pricing (even if only by R30) and therefore, you are still saving.

That's why i got so irritated. I feel you missed the point that there are in fact deals, savings and specials to be had, but focused rather on the fact that the special was only 5% and not the 25% advertised.

Point is, at the end of the day, whether you're saving 5% or 25%, you are still saving.

So i get your gripe about the percentage being saved being misleading. I don't get why you made a "hate" post about it, or decided not to shop there anymore.

Anyway. I think we're on the same level now. Think you realise my point, as well as why i got so annoyed. And i realise your point about the misleading percentages.

Shouldn't have gone all "postal" on you, it wasn't necessary, and i too apologise for that.

Now shut up and give me a hug bud. Peace ✌

Okay so this is probably just cause I bought mine a long while ago... but still... wow when you take this in percentages...

I bought mine for R370 from them.
Someone on here considers this an instrument of torture designed by Satan himself and did a PIF on here (still regretting not taking that FIP!) so 100% discount....
I see they now sell this KB for R1000 but it is currently on sale for 30% off so this KB I paid R370 for will now cost me only R700. Hmmmm...

so the question now becomes "Am I willing to spend R700 on a replacement just because my A and S keys are no longer readable?" Hmmm... So I just bought myself a MS Surface KB on Amazon instead :D

Okay, I know this is completely off topic from the EveTech stuff (just like this new discussions about "playing" with Legos Aghm ;) ) but I am bringing up this Amazon purchase in light of that "We don't need to have a Black Friday" comment from earlier. I just had a look at what the Ryzen 7 3800x will cost me if I order it via Amazon and after courier charges and import taxes it comes in at almost half WootWare's normal price and still over a R1000 cheaper than their sale price... and this is just their normal price, not even a Black Friday sale price... just.... normal...

So it seems to me that if you want awesome discounts, go to Amazon :D ...but then again, only for really expensive items. The price difference between Amazon and WootWare (on sale) for the R5 3600 is only R100 so really not worth the hassle... but for the birthplace of Black Friday to have a normal price that comes in at 50% off our normal prices... it definitely makes import a viable option any time of the year. Sales be damned! :D

I honestly don't get this rant, cause every single online only store has the exact same strategy, even Wootware.

BRUUUU I've been reading through this and am so confused.

Worst of all dude admits he wasn't gonna buy anything

This keyboard warrior-ing needs to STAAAPPHH. Simple don't like dont buy.
Evetech had decent specials everything can't be on special where else would they make money they aint a PIF bro CHILL DEM TITS.
Yes they can't calculate but a deal is a deal, gebruik google mos.

Side Note i grabbed one of those MSI 2070 SUPERs for R8599 and am a very happy chappie compared to WootWare Palit Gamerock R9599.

I'm confused with this OP.

OP: How can they do this?
Members: This is how they are doing it, We all agree that it isn't the right way to go about it.
OP: No
Members: what?

Also this :ROFLMAO::LOL:

Am I the only one who is a little upset about the selection of goods on sale? was hoping for at least a few more cases
