Here's a short list of apps that I use for sim racing:

1. Crew Chief: An app that gives you a virtual crew chief that talks to you while driving providing valuable info like sector times, fuel remaining, track temperature. You can also set it up to respond to voice commands so that pressing a button on your wheel while driving will result in your crew chief talking back to you. Download: CrewChief Forums

2. iSpeed: Provides various types of data in a window or via a secondary display like a phone or tablet. It gives you the usual speed, RPM, sector times etc and also accurate fuel usage. Perfect for calculating precise fuel loads for your stints. It also provides telemetry info. Download: iSpeed - iRacing HUD and Lap Analyzer

3. Motec: A telemetry app used by actual racing teams to read logged data. iRacing and other sims can output data that's readable by Motec. It's highly technical but very effective once you've taken the time to learn it. Download: MoTeC Download iRacing data converter: MU

These are some of the apps I use. I'll add more when I remember them. Fore example, there's an app I used that captures all the driver's lap data from a session I was in and allowed to pick my best lap and any other drivers lap and create a video overlaying the two. Very helpful when you're trying to figure out where you're slow. Needles to say, I forgot the name of it. 🙈

Feel free to comment and I'll add your suggestions to the list.

Thanks for sharing. What titles are you currently racing?

Right now, mainly iRacing. Driving the F1 Williams FW31 and sometimes the LMP1 Porsche 919.

I mess around a bit with Assetto Corsa and did about 5 laps so far in F1 2019.

Cool, you should also try Assetto Corsa Competitions - it's a work in progress, but has amazing day/night transitions, weather and audio, FFB / physics. Based on UE4 so its a generation ahead of AC imho.

I bought Assetto Corsa Competizione the day it was released as a public beta. I went through many months of milestone updates and that last, final update felt like it would never come. The weather effects is fantastic. I haven't done an online race yet but I'll get around to it eventually.

Never been heavily came into sims but I still come in here cuz I thought I might be one day (till FIA-GTR kicked my ass) so it still kinda interests me.
Crew chief sounds amazing though, what a cool support app. Just had to say that.

GT3 should be released some time this year. If it's as good as it's predecessors, then it should kick your ass as well. :ROFLMAO:

The crew chief app is truly amazing. The fact that the developer is doing it for free is unbelievable. He used to provide a service where he'd add your own name to the voice set so that the crew chief would refer to you by your actual name. He's stopped it due to the file sizes becoming too big.

Hey man...shot for the post.
Have you played F1 2017? If so, how does F1 2019 compare? Worth the purchase?

F1 2019 for me feels similar (handling wise) to F1 2018. Both are however significantly better than F1 2017. They’ve included the F2 cars in F1 2019 which makes it worthwhile. It’s R329 on Steam so it’s actually quite cheap when compared to other new release games.

Well the other reason FIA-GTR kicked my ass is because at some point the game developed a glitch where as soon as I was accelerating even the slightest bit the steering would lock, even a max turn would get me only maybe about 3 degrees of turn even at only like 10km/h. And this glitch carried though even to an install on another system. No amount of settings tweaking would help.

Then I played some more arcadey games and realised I perhaps prefer things a bit simpler and less realistic.
What I need is a sim that has like a hand-holding AI companion who can do basic setups for you and then suggest based on your performance what you might want to tweak only stepping aside much later.

Project Cars is about as sim-like as I want to go these days and even that usually with some assists still on and some realism turned off. I still think though I can get some enjoyment out of Crew Chief once my leg heals and I can play properly using my wheel again.
