What is the problem with “side loading” ?

It's a schlep VS just updating from the play store. I had a mygica and it was horrible.
The versions you're sideloading are probably for phones where you have touch, and you don't.
The versions of android on the unofficial boxes are for phones where you have touch, and you don't
, so you have to use funny remotes etc.

I can guarantee you that once you ave tried android tv you'll detest the other boxes.

I upgraded to shields and yes they are very different, but so is the price, and once they up and running they work just as well.
I guess it comes down to preference and budget
