The current Origin Access will now become a basic membership (with the usual 6-8 month wait period for new games to be added to the vault). The Premier membership will give you access to the new games immediately - in fact you will get access to the games way before launch date.

"Origin Access Premier, however, will feature “all of our new PC games,” said EA CEO Andrew Wilson. That includes the return of Madden NFL to the platform for the first time in a decade with this year’s Madden NFL 19, along with FIFA 19 and Battlefield 5 this fall, and Anthem in 2019. Subscribers will also be able to play those games before launch, but they won’t be limited to trials — once a game goes live on Origin Access Premier, the entire game will be available before its public launch, for an unlimited amount of time.
Here are the early access dates for four upcoming EA games:
  • Madden NFL 19: Aug. 2 (public launch: Aug. 10)
  • FIFA 19: Sept. 20 (public launch: Sept. 28)
  • Battlefield 5: Oct. 11 (public launch: Oct. 19)
  • Anthem: Feb. 15, 2019 (public launch: Feb. 22, 2019)"

According to the Origin PC client: "When Launching later this summer, Origin Access Premier will be available for R199.95/ month or R1199.99/ year."

Pay to beta-test...yay! Not.

yeah, I am trying to figure out if those titles will end up being trials or what

but hey, if I can pay the R200 for a month and get the full version of BFV, to give me a good idea of whether or not I like it and not just this demo/beta crap, then I would sign up for a month

According to what i read, in the premier subscription these would be the full game and not the timed trials that you get currently with Origin Access. You will also get access to the games before the official launch dates.

This is from the Origin Client:

"What is Origin Access Premier?
Origin Access Premier is a new membership tier that gives you unlimited access to the latest and greatest EA games before anyone else. Imagine paying one low monthly or annual fee and getting to play new EA PC titles before launch. Not a Play First Trial, you get access to the full game – yours to play whenever you want for as long as you're a Premier member. No gates – no barriers. That’s the Premier experience."

"So, what's the difference between Basic and Premier?

Our Basic membership gets you:
the chance to try out our new games for up to ten hours, starting five days before release, with Play First Trials
access to The Vault, a library of games that just keeps growing all the time. Play any games that have already been added, as much as you want.
the 10% discount in the Origin Store on full games, pre-orders, expansions, FIFA points, and more

Premier will give you:
full, unlimited access to our games, starting five days before they release
That’s right, no more limited-time trials. Play the full game starting five days before launch without purchasing it separately, until you cancel your Premier membership.
access to The Vault, a library of games that just keeps growing all the time.
the same 10% discount in the Origin Store on full games, pre-orders, expansions, FIFA points, and more"

and that's the part I hate/dislike

I can understand that this takes away that cheating ability of signing up for a month to get the full games, then just cancelling and then keeping the games

HOWEVER, what about members for longer times? surely they should make it so that if you stay for a certain amount of time, those games will be yours

that is why I would just outright be buying something like BFV, because 1) won't be touching those other games and 2) don't want to cancel a sub and then lose my game (after I have been sub'd for a long enough period ofc)

unless there is such a clause and it's just in the rest of their T&Cs

besides, as I mentioned in the BFV thread, if I start saving R200pm starting now, I can purchase the game outright so no need for this Access

The way I was reading it was full game yes, but only until launch or only the launch edition (as in no subsequent patches). But I guess reading the rest of the terms it could be better than that and would actually be equivalent to buying all those games.

But then how do DLC fit in?

I agree with what you saying buuut. I think there's been a discussion around this already. Disclaimer: I don't agree with the current model anyway.
We don't own our games anyway. If I can remember we basically just pay a sum of money to download and play but we never technically own the game. Can you buy a disc and play a game without a download anymore?

And to follow on, this seems to be the direction all publishers are going. Watched a bit of the Xbox conference last night and they doing the same with Xbox pass or whatever it's called. Also game streaming from the cloud. Play you games on whatever platform you want. PC, console or phone/tablet. All done via streaming.

No. It's not streaming. But yes it is all tied to the services existance. Streaming implies all data exists server side, but this is actual ownership of the data on your system just it only works if the parent application can phone home and as soon as the link is broken the data is worthless.

Aside from GoG installers, those are yours to keep for life. GoG can go down tomorrow and you could still play all the games you kept the installers for.

Sorry, the streaming comment was something other than the vault libraries etc. I just meant all publishers are going in the direction of a subscription based library.

getting way too technical there

glad though that in that video he also says that recently visuals are getting too 'deep'

when I was watching the video, I did think that they are at the same time trying to let you experience how they actually experience it in real life
(with the snow falling and causing wet spots in your vision, etc)

but knowing that even some of the pro players turn their gfx down, kinda makes it pointless at the end of the day

Except only EA has a subscription service as far as I know (at least on PC)? Subscription implies a constant stream of payments to keep the access alive. And that's not the case with anyone else yet, even EA if you don't do Origin Access/Origin Access Premier.

So, logged into EA Origin this evening, and saw the following....Premier access is now official live and available and it seems like expansions are included in the Premier membership

i personally will be upgrading from basic to premier.

Makes no sense for me to pay 1100 for fifa 19, finish it in 2 weeks play occasionally and boom 8 month later fifa 20.
With the sub i at least get a hot other games i wouldn't spend money on.

monthly sub is expensive compare to yearly

The yearly sub makes more sense...its basically 50% saving...they have also started adding in Warner Brothers games recently as well.

I cant see any value in buying FIFA individually any longer...and as you mentioned, have access to a whole lot of other games i would not ordinarily consider purchasing....it also seems that the new games coming out 5 days before release date, is not the standard editions...but higher versions (e.g. FIFA 19 Ultimate Edition according to the screenshot, Battlefield 5 Deluxe Edition, etc).

Origin Access Premier is live | PC Gamer

Origin Access Premier, the upgraded version of Origin Access announced by Electronic Arts at E3, is now live. For $15 per month or $100 per year, subscribers will have full, unlimited access to all of EA's games on Origin and "numerous titles from other publishers," plus DLC and in-game bonuses, and early access to upcoming big-budget releases.

"Origin Access Premier offers players a wealth of content, including all of EA’s PC games and numerous titles from other publishers in a single membership," Player Network senior vice president Michael Blank. "As our first-ever subscription service with full access to newly-released EA games, we’re offering players more freedom to play the games they want, anytime they want."

I like to actually own my games, personally, but if you're not hung up on that point and were planning on picking up any two of Madden 19, FIFA 19, Battlefield 5, and Anthem, $100 for a year of access is not a terrible deal. Deluxe editions of all four games, which collectively would go for about $350 at retail, will be available to subscribers five days before full release:

  • EA Sports Madden NFL 19 Hall of Fame Edition (August 2, 2018)
  • EA Sports FIFA 19 Ultimate Edition (September 20, 2018)
  • Battlefield V Deluxe Edition (October 11, 2018)
  • Anthem Legion of Dawn Edition (February 15, 2019)
The original Origin Access service is now known as Origin Access Basic, and can be had for $5 per month or $30 per year. It offers a slightly smaller collection of games, with limited access to new games via ten-hour trials. Full details are up at origin.com.

They remove it, i had the normal access for my wife, even if you had the base game and just upgraded it to the delux with the access, they take away the delux [emoji23][emoji23]
