I have a board that will support 5500 series CPU's but not 5600 series.

Well eventually they need upgrading. But currently 8 x 2gb ddr3 dimms and two E5506 cpu. Ram is ecc and registered/buffered

Just got my hands on some new parts, should now have matching pairs of Rams and CPU.

Will drop you a PM when I am back so we can try and test your other board. Maybe even get that out to scorpioman for a fix if needed.
