Starting this thread, as I see a lot more activity from people playing again. The specials thread has been de-railed a bit.

Would be cool as well to start a list of active players

Will try and help where I can, I'm not the best player, but at least I know a thing or two.

Happy farming

I like the idea. The game is definitely worth going back to. I have ROS and have started all the way at the beginning with a HC Crusader- Haven't even looked at Act V. Would be nice to have a few guys play along as HC is pretty serious business- every buff, spell helps one another. My mate just lost his character at around level 40 in ACT 2...bleak- Farming on his own. Small group of us run HC and it is intense, the adrenalin of not letting your character die is pretty epic. A must try for any long-time players.

The new loot system makes the game much more enjoyable. I finished D3 on Inferno, and only managed to get up to +-60k DPS on my barb. Just about half-way through the expansion (which is only a single act) and I already have 100k dps and 1.6 mil toughness.

I will probably never play Hardcore, I can't take that risk to lose all those hours of playing. I've died too many times of server lag issues when the game released, heck even died once or twice the last week as well because of server lag.

The new act is hard, I could play level 4 - 5 Inferno or whatever it was pre-patch, had a pretty decent barb. When I hit about lv 63 or Torment 1, I started dying and it took ages to kill things. I lowered the difficulty to Master or whatever the Highest one was I could do, and farmed the other acts till I reached LV 70. Then used the blacksmith to craft a few items. I did not want to finnish the game before reaching 70, as you get a lot of legendaries in that final ACT, and I did not want any sub lv 70 items.

I got to 260K Damage and 5mil toughness much quicker than expected. At least I can farm Torment 1 again, on 2, its just not worth it with the time it takes to kill things.

I'm waiting on mine to be delivered, as soon as that happens I'll be active!

The Game is ridiculously easy now though ...

It's great fun to roll around and just smash stuff - but I can powerlevel a char from 1 - 60 in just under an hour. My mage is less than a week old and rolling 980k dps ( in yellow gear ).
It's still just a grind fest , but good fun now and then for some mindless banter ;)

Link to your char? And please share how you power level like that?

Create a party with Torment 6, let a decent 70 run around in Act I and nuke stuff - my crusader went from level 1 - 40 in about 90min, and we were chilled :p

Edit: better level every class quick, I really think they are going to nerf this "loophole" lol.

Come join us on T4 with your mage.
The game is easy if you play Torments that are easy.

I hear you. HC is something else. It really does add a new dimension to the game though. I have a level 60 (14) wizard (Normal) and haven't even looked at ACT V. I'll try get my HC character there first. Cool thing with HC is, I no longer find myself just mindlessly bashing because now I have to take note that I can't just resurrect when I die. Coming up against Elites and Champions really gets the blood flowing. Kind of employ a form of tactics when facing harder bosses.

As for lag issues, I haven't come across any as of yet. If i did..I'd just mash alt F4. Damn, I hope I don't die that way. Also take it slow. Started on Hard and only play in a group. 3 of us are currently running through the campaign, near the end of act 2. I wouldn't play HC alone, it's too intense and just too hard. The group works in unison. We all use spells/buffs that help the group survive etc.

So far up to level 40 and the achievement that was given gave the good feels, it's not easy.

Are you sure this has not been nerfed yet? I was under the impression it was, that's why I asked how you are doing it. I any case, I will have a look and see if this still works

Yes I will also try and hit 70 before finishing the game.. Need way higher dps still to play T1 effectively. I can play it but just killing too slowly.. I have a crap load full of cash but can't really use it..

Exactly what was said - the level 1 toon creates a Torment VI game , lvl 60 - 70 runs you through and you level like a slotmachine who's won the jackpot. It gets progressively harder as the toon levels , so around 45 - 50 for some it may be a bit tougher :)

Isnt the game supposed to be about adventure and loot? Leveling that quick kinda defeats the purpose no>

Did it yesterday for 2 mates - lvl 20 - > 60 in no time ;)

It's about the endless / mindless grind to get gear and see how much and fast you can kill :p - the story is inconsequential once you hit 70 and start doing adventure mode bounties and rifts for loot / mobs.

:D

I am actually quite annoyed, picked up 2 legendaries last night that were USELESS compared to some of the rare items I had :( and this was after playing T1 for a few hours. Pretty much defeats the purpose of calling some items lengendary, heck one of the rare items i picked up gave me +20% damage without affecting my other stats too badly!!! I actually pick up all rare items now...

Might be for some, but the low level loot is useless once you get to level 60+

I just need to make up my mind.. Do I roll with Barb or Sader :p

Sup,
Keen to get some more guys to jam diablo 3 with.
Got a few ways I can play so :

Softcore (preferablly wizards, but thats only for leg sharing, otherwise everyone will be sad panda when we can't swap easy) :
TheMistress - Community - Diablo III
1,1mil dps buffed, ±6mil toughness. Torment 1 is walk in the park easy breezy, Torment 2 I start to die against certain affixes.
2 of us jam, other guy has 1,4mil dps buffed, also wizard.

Hardcore (yet to push the 60~70 gap):
BarbieBoy - Community - Diablo III
Only lvl 63 so far, got quite a few more HC characters at different leveling points so I should be able to join whoever.

Invite me: Ninjatsu#1322

Tips? Maybe?
1) Running all 4 players as the same class(ie: all crusaders, or all barbs) helps for legendary farming. You can share with those in the group for 2 hours, more at times though I am unsure what causes it.
2) Farm the difficulty you can 1 shot all white monsters. Torment does not spit out torment only legendaries, infact I still only get normal legendaries in torment mode, torment only stuff is very rare. <200k dps should be normal diff, hard 200~400k, Expert/Master 400~700k, >700k Torment 1.
3) CRAFT!! Pretty much all my items are enchanted. Keep on the lookout for yellow items with '4' Primary stats, however 3 of those stats need to be what you want with just the 4th stat needing to change. This makes a huge difference on any item, sockets now are the most recommended to roll, after which is crit chance/damage, after that is unique modifiers of +15% element or spell damage or the reduced costs/cooldowns.

Regarding the leveling process :
Diablo 2 was a game where you enjoy the loot drops and the story and the adventure, and eventually once you beat normal and nightmare probably turn to PvP with friends.
Diablo 3 is a game where you are expected to get to max lvl (seeing the story on the way) to then start playing the loot drop game. Any level before max(60/70) simply never experienced the main content of the loot system, errr... well its slightly better now in RoS, most loot is available to drop at lower levels.

Final thing, those community pages aren't updating properly, all the enchants are not displaying correctly. So the dps and toughness you see on the web is not what is in-game(in game is alot higher, should be the same for Way™ and Colin).

Ninjatsu

So let me get this straight - the difficulty that you play on does not matter when it comes to legendaries? Torment levels will obviously increase the drop rate, but not really the quality of drops?

Sort of,

1) Stats (Same Normal~Torment VI)
The stats on the items are set. Level 70 items will roll as level 70 items be it on normal or torment. Certain items roll higher stats (helm, gloves, ammy, weapon, offhand) that will be around the 550~625max, while others (shoulder, bracer, chest, pants, boots, rings) roll 350~415max. Numbers are the primary/vitality roll. Legendaries are slightly better than yellows as they roll original(415/625)+150ish on the main and vit.

2)Chance Of Drop + Type Of Drop (Same Normal~Master , Slightly Buffed Torment I~VI)
Torment difficulty has recently been buffed to drop more legendaries more often(diablofans news feed), but last night saw me get 1 basic leg that is not torment only. Set items that are the main set of the class (immortal kings, tal rasha's, zunimassa's, inna's, natalya's) only drop on Torment difficulties so you won't find those in Normal~Master. However other sets are available, I got a chantodos set doing Master so smaller sets are still available in lower difficulties.

Killing the elites/rifts faster is still key to getting legendaries faster. This is only helpful for farming and gearing up fast, but the "FUN" is found from things you like, so don't stick to only grinding. Its good to push a few difficulties up every now and then to see how you should focus your items toward more damage or more toughness.

Don't overlook anything clickable, dead bodies have recently been dropping legendaries for me(takes a couple hundred or so :p).

I hate playing like this, although I agree speed is the key...Most people that play like that (playing Master while able to do Torment 1 or 2) are also the guys *****ing 1 month down the line claiming they are bored and there is no end game because they've gotten so used to farming like *****es.
Play the torment you can handle, I can stomp T1 and T2 no problem, T3 is also ok barring a couple of elite packs with insane affixes and getting blocked into a corner ect, so I play T3 because its still challenging and fairly fast.

Same with people playing fps games and jamming on easy and then finishing the game in 4 hours and then moaning about it...
